The thing we love most about Taylor Swift is that she always speaks her mind, and the video for "Mean," her latest clip off her album Speak Now, is no exception. In the video, Taylor gives hope to bullied kids everywhere as she explains that even though they might be teased now, they're going to make it out on the other side.
In "Mean," we see Taylor Swift on stage with her band as she narrates the stories of three kids who are the subjects of different taunts and tormentors -- a high school football player who prefers fashion magazines over playbooks, a teenager being mocked at her after-school job for wearing an embarrassing uniform and a young girl who's forced to eat by herself after being turned away from the popular lunch table. We also see Taylor in her own bullying vignette, where she plays an old-timey damsel in distress tied to railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train. (Spoiler alert: She's safe!)
Though Taylor Swift's "Mean" video is lighthearted and adorable, and everything works out in the end, the subject matter behind the song is serious stuff. Taylor is just the latest celeb to jump on the anti-bullying bandwagon, alongside Demi Lovato and her "Love Is Louder" campaign and a slew of other stars who have participated in the "It Gets Better" project. I'd hate to be you right now, bullies.
