Lil Wayne To Go ‘Unplugged’ For MTV On Sunday, June 12

Lil Wayne might not be the first person you associate with the term “unplugged,” but that’s precisely what makes his upcoming wireless set so exciting. The rap superstar is slated to appear on “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged” Sunday, June 12, at 9 p.m. ET, in a performance that will air on MTV, MTV.com and MTV2.

Lil Wayne’s “Unplugged” performance will be the first hip-hop performance “Unplugged” has seen since Jay-Z’s special in 2001. He’ll be following in the footsteps of artists like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, who appeared on “Yo! Unplugged Rap” in the early ’90s.

As part of the buildup to his hotly anticipated album Tha Carter IV, due out early this summer, Weezy will pull from his massive catalog of hits to create an unadorned, unpredictable acoustic set.
