Guess who's slated to practice his new twist on The Twist?
Nick Jonas! He's been cast as heartthrob Link Larkin in the Hollywood Bowl production of "Hairspray" this summer, alongside stars like John Stamos and Drew Carey. As true Jonas junkies know, this is only the latest installment in a longer theater run for Nick; he recently played Marius in the London production of "Les Miserables." So Nick is going for a "Jonas round" of Broadway bonanza (like a bonus round, but obviously way more fun. OBVIOUSLY!).
"Glee" star Matthew Morrison has played "Hairspray"'s Link Larkin onstage, while Nick's fellow Disney film and music regular Zac Efron played him in the onscreen version in 2007. We're jonesing to catch this fabulously follicled cutie in any type of live performance, especially one that directly references hair. Because Nick's deserves a trophy, doesn't it? That Nick Jonas is to about to star in a show all about a product with which he's readily familiar with is like META or something. It reminds us of those M.C. Escher pieces of the hand drawing itself. WHAT?
“Hairspray” at the Hollywood Bowl will run from Aug. 5 through Aug. 7. Jerry Mitchell, choreographer of the original show, will return to choreograph and direct. Tell us: Will you be buying tickets and a bottle of gel?
