"American Idol" winner David Cook just released a music video for his new single, "The Last Goodbye" (off his upcoming album, This Loud Morning), and it has a fittingly big concept for such a big, powerful breakup song: "man fakes own death to gain sympathy from ex-girlfriend, and maybe mess with his friends a little bit, too." This is an urge many of us can relate to. I mean, what naughty (and perhaps slightly egomaniacal) person wouldn't want to fake his or her own death to hear what people will say about him? It's a fantasy straight out of Tom Sawyer. (Also, please do not actually do that.) And also, he isn't faking his own death. He's WRITING A HIT SONG!
"If you hear this on the radio, we've already said our last goodbye," Cook sings, before making everyone believe he has drowned himself in the ocean in the Nigel Dick-directed video. The cops get called, his ex is sad and his face lands on the cover of the newspaper. But all is not lost. Cook shows up at the end of the video to say "you got punk'd!" and the look on his bandmate's face is... well, you'll just have to see for yourself.

Guess who's slated to practice his new twist on The Twist?
Nick Jonas! He's been cast as heartthrob Link Larkin in the Hollywood Bowl production of "Hairspray" this summer, alongside stars like John Stamos and Drew Carey. As true Jonas junkies know, this is only the latest installment in a longer theater run for Nick; he recently played Marius in the London production of "Les Miserables." So Nick is going for a "Jonas round" of Broadway bonanza (like a bonus round, but obviously way more fun. OBVIOUSLY!).
"Glee" star Matthew Morrison has played "Hairspray"'s Link Larkin onstage, while Nick's fellow Disney film and music regular Zac Efron played him in the onscreen version in 2007. We're jonesing to catch this fabulously follicled cutie in any type of live performance, especially one that directly references hair. Because Nick's deserves a trophy, doesn't it? That Nick Jonas is to about to star in a show all about a product with which he's readily familiar with is like META or something. It reminds us of those M.C. Escher pieces of the hand drawing itself. WHAT?
“Hairspray” at the Hollywood Bowl will run from Aug. 5 through Aug. 7. Jerry Mitchell, choreographer of the original show, will return to choreograph and direct. Tell us: Will you be buying tickets and a bottle of gel?

It's not often that we here at Buzzworthy use hyperbole. Sure, the sandwiches we had for lunch were described as "mind-blowing," and the elevator ride back up to the 25th floor was considered "epic," but my God. We weren't ready for the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Now take a look at Lady Gaga on the June 2011 cover of the magazine. Let's just list off some words that might describe it, shall we? Regal. Iconic. Wizardly. Amazing. Perfect. Perhaps... dare I say it.... defining?
It's not often that magazine covers reach the point of art, but between this and the Jay-Z cover from last summer, Rolling Stone appears to be on a roll (pun totally intended) with shooting iconic acts at the height of their career. On the cover, Lady Gaga appears wearing one of her signature hair bows, Photoshopped with a pinkish hue (either that or she ate a lot of shrimp) that works perfectly with the baby blue background.
Again, if you didn't know, this week marks the release of Gaga's Born This Way album, hence the barrage of promotion. But if all that work leads up to a magazine cover like this, then I say it was all worth it. Simply stunning. It's a gorgeous, far cry from Gaga's last Rolling Stone cover, which saw her shooting heavy artillery from her chest.

Jamaican singer Shaggy, owner of the title to the biggest dancehall reggae crossover artist ever, returns with his new track "Sugarcane."
The singer of "All Virgins," "Sexy Body Girls," "Freaky Girl" and "Clothes Drop" -- as well as "It Wasn't Me," "Angel," "Bombastic" and "Fired Up (F*** The Rece$$ion)" -- makes a coy allusion when he sings "She likes the taste of my sugarcane," which happens to be plentiful and always in season. Musically, it's a pleasant slice of mid-tempo reggae-pop, laced with innuendo.
Nine albums deep, Shaggy can write an instantly catchy reggae track. "Sugarcane," as with most of Shaggy's songs, is more a vehicle for the singer's voice itself -- a smooth, supple sound that neatly fits between Lovers Rock and reggae-pop -- than the music. We're looking forward to the next crop imagery; Vegas odds have "Banana" as the current front-runner.

Britney Spears' special dude-buddy, Jason Trawick, might not be managing her anymore, but that doesn't mean he's abandoned her in any way. In fact, sources say part of the reason he took his new job with the startup entertainment brand Famos was so he could spend more time with Britney and her two young sons. (It probably doesn't hurt that he'll be working with Mick Jagger, either.)
While hanging out backstage at the Billboard Music Awards this past weekend, Britney and Jason were the very picture of a loving, happy relationship. Despite her intimidating dominatrix outfit, Britney is smiling like a teen on her way to the prom. And why shouldn't she be? Jason's got that slightly scruffy "bad boy" look Britney seems to favor, but with none of the greasiness that's marked some of her former male associates. Most important, dude has got himself a career other than "being Britney Spears' boyfriend." With the pressures of her "Femme Fatale" world tour looming, it's great to see Britney's got some emotional support. Mazel tov to both of them.

You're used to seeing her in over-the-top sexy getups, but Katy Perry looks over-the-top dorktastic in the cover art for her new single, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." Cowritten by Katy, Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Bonnie McKee, the song has a retro-cheesy vibe to it, and the art seems to have taken that inspiration and run with it. The cover for the remixes is also a thing of beauty, giving us a closer look at the bespectacled, headgear-festooned Perry in the background. Both Katy Perrys are smiling big, as if to say, "I'm not going to let these orthodontic indignities get me down. I'm going to put on some more blue eye shadow and go to the dance, then maybe make out with Tommy under the bleachers!"
If the art is any indication, the video for "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," the fifth single off Teenage Dream, should be amazing. Perry hinted at it in a tweet earlier this month:

I can't wait to see what Katy and her crack team of eighties-ologists came up with. What with her love of big fashions and funky bass lines, I'm starting to think she was born in the wrong decade.

Lady Gaga, seen arriving at "Late Show With David Letterman" yesterday, went to Best Buy last night. Not to pick up some great deals on electronics, nor to pick up a DVD box set of her favorite show (I'm guessing it's "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"). She was in fact there to promote her new album, Born This Way, because ... unless you've been living under a rock with your fingers in your ears for the last few months... you may have heard Lady Gaga has a new album out.
Fans who braved the glum weather and made it to a New York City Best Buy were lucky enough to actually meet and take pictures with Ms. Gaga (think of the Facebook profile pic possibilities!) when she showed up at a meet and greet, autographing fan memorabilia and even grabbing a few albums for herself, it seems! But the real heartwarming moments came when she sat in what could best be described as a Heavy Metal Santa's Grotto of sorts, with a Born This Way inspired industrial/biking theme, and snapped some pictures with the fans. Here's some of our favorite pictures from a night that in all honesty looked quite amazing for all involved.
Check out photos of Lady Gaga and her Little Monsters at Best Buy:
Gaga is caught shoplifting her own album. Embarrassment ensues.
Here, Gaga poses with a magical unicorn, as unicorns are known and valued trendsetters, and when a unicorn buys a Lady Gaga album you can be assured others will follow.
And finally, our favorite picture of the evening. One young fan was so excited he simply fell asleep upon meeting his idol:

Last month, we told you about "I Feel Like Dancin'," the up-tempo collaboration between Baltimore punk-pop band All Time Low and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. Now, the guys have come through with the video for their first single off their upcoming album, Dirty Work.
This being their first major-label video, the group went meta, framing "I Feel Like Dancin'" around a meeting between the band and the dreaded "clueless label guy." "We need to boost album sales this quarter," says the nameless suit. "And you guys are going to be our guinea pigs... I have a few methods for success up my sleeve."
What follows is a series of "proven" methods for fame, e.g., product placement, sex and stealing other people's ideas. We don't want to give too much away, but for that last one, the guys lampoon your favorite pop stars. It looks all in good fun, though, as the band clearly has no problem dressing in drag or letting muscled beefcakes grind them while they're playing.
Dirty Work, out June 7, is the band's fourth album and first since 2009's Nothing Personal.

Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean is no stranger to slow jams. He's also no stranger to the ladies, as expressed in this clip for "Acura Integurl." Dude packs more effortless cool into two short minutes than George Clooney could fit into a suitcase.
Basically, the video, directed by Dave Wilson, is a vignette of Frank driving aimlessly, looking cool and singing about his girl. We're not exactly sure what the clip is supposed to "mean," but maybe he wanted to set out on the open road to try and find his missing bandmate, Earl Sweatshirt. More than likely, the video was simply "decent excuse to drive a nsx through the mountains," as Ocean wrote -- and then recanted -- on his website.
If you haven't checked out Frank Ocean's phenomenal album Nostalgia, you need to get on that STAT. (The album is free, too, so download to your heart's content!) What else has Frank been up to -- other than filming videos that double as car commercials? He just completed a studio stint with Beyoncé and keeps pretty busy by touring with his Odd Future brethren. Looks like the tide is high for good ol' Frank Ocean.
