California hip-hop duo New Boyz have a brutally honest message to the ladies: You look better in the dark. The group teamed up with Chris Brown to record "Better With the Lights Off," the third single from their recently released second album Too Cool to Care, and we've got the exclusive video below!
Directed by Brown's longtime director Colin Tilley ("Next to You," "Look at Me Now"), the video, shot in L.A.'s historic Echo Park, takes a fluorescent look at Los Angeles, bathing the boyz in one giant black light. Right from the 1980s-inspired title fonts, the video mirrors the song's playful, tongue-in-cheek feel. If the location looks familiar, you probably saw it last year on OK Go's time-warping video for "End Love." Hey, we just answered the "What do New Boyz and OK Go have in common?" question nobody asked.
The track, produced by The Cataracs, has already generated a bit of controversy with New Boyz member Legacy's line, "Every guy wants to know how it is/To clap off the lights and turn Khloé to Kim." Ouch. Though as he told MTV News last month, "Khloé is a beautiful girl... All I'm saying is, with that line, was you can get any type of girl, and when you clap off the lights, let your imagination run free and you can turn her into anybody you want." Nice save, man.
