It may not be the most creative song title ever, but Soulja Boy and Nicki Minaj express their lyrical love for each other on the new single "I Love You," in which the duo share slightly opposing views on the definition of love.
On her verse, Nicki details plans for her wedding with Soulja Boy (so much for her Twitter marriage to Drake), already doling out shmoopy couple nicknames ("I call him SB/He call me Nicki Tell 'Em") and planning the extra addition to the family ("Family Guy/Let's have a little Stewie.") Soulja Boy, for his part, doesn't fare as well, either forgetting most of the theme to his own song in favor of personal boasts or rhyming at a tortoise-like pace that needs some serious speeding up. "Who's that dude hoppin' out the Lamborghini/Got the Gucci and the Prada and the swordfish zucchini," he rhymes. Unless those are all gifts are on his wedding registry, we're not really sure what that has to do with the song. Oh wells. Soulja Boy makes more in one minute than we'll make in five lifetimes.
Over a blippy, vaguely Far East-inspired synth beat, "I Love You" has the distinct feel of two separate, unrelated verses coming together (granted a bit haphazardly), with a closing hook by Bobby V, which makes it just long enough to constitute a song. Still, Nicki Tell 'Em does have a nice ring to it, so maybe there's hope yet.
