Buzzworthy fave Jessie J was spotted making her way to a secret Beyonce show in London yesterday, because that's what celebrities do -- get invited to cool parties and (responsibly) drink free adult beverages the whole night. And leave it to the "Nobody's Perfect" singer to make you actually want a sprained ankle. Jessie J showed up in a cast and crutches and still looked fresh out of a "How To" style guide.
This just goes to show you, kids: Don't sweat the small stuff. Just because you may have sprained your ankle or broken your leg or singed all of your hair off in a home dye gone wrong (don't ask), it doesn't mean you can't still rock it. And you know what all those style experts say: "When trying to off-balance a large leg cast, pair it with a parrot-inspired blazer." Boom. Fashion.

It seemed like only yesterday that Chiddy of Chiddy Bang was setting a Guinness Book of World Record for longest continuous freestyle -- 9 hours, 18 minutes, 22 seconds if you're keeping track -- at the O Music Awards. He rightly could've stopped to rest after more than 550 straight minutes of rhyming, but the rapper, along with bandmate Xaphoon Jones, immediately debuted "Mind Your Manners," the first single off the group's upcoming debut LP Breakfast, live on stage at the O Music Awards. Ending a record-breaking nine-plus hour freestyle by debuting your new song is like a swag slam dunk. Now we've got the official studio version below.
Over a electro-synth beat equally inspired by New Wave as hip-hop, Chiddy goes in on the braggadocio tip, rhyming, "I'm feeling invincible/Junior high school I had a crush on the principal/I guess I was turned on by the leadership/Now we got the game wrapped up on some pita s***." The track's obvious hip-hop elements coalesce well with its more mainstream pop aspirations, as the catchy sing-along hook adds a glossy sheen without the formulaic pandering.

A young boy, chained at the neck and bleeding from the lip, scratches out another day on the wall of an underground, makeshift prison cell. When he's "freed," it's only to be transferred to another room to participate in a Fight Club for children -- the human equivalent of a cockfight played for sport and money.
California hard rock duo Middle Class Rut get serious in "Busy Bein' Born," the latest video from their debut album No Name No Color. It's an unflinching, uncomfortably realistic video, combining aspects of kidnapping, forced child labor and ruthless, blood-filled battles with child soldiers. A cross between "Midnight Express" and "Bloodsport," the video intersperses fight scenes with a look at the relationship between the two too-young combatants. We don't know how long our protagonists have been locked up, but a wrench and some creativity may be the key to their eventual escape. Or not.

Mariah Carey welcomed twins into the world less than two months ago (and congrats again!), and we're still waiting patiently to see the first photos of little Moroccan and Monroe. But the "Fantasy" singer gave us a tiny preview of her daughter Monroe via Twitter over the weekend, and her "talk to the hand" stance could not be more adorable.
Covered in a chic pink houndstooth blankie that we assume is cashmere (oh, your baby doesn't have one?), Monroe casually raises her hand to the camera as if to say, "No pictures, guys." In fact, she may even be doing the "Shake It Off." And we have to say we're pretty impressed with the fact that an 8-week-old has already acquired this invaluable skill. Given that Moroccan and Monroe are the offspring of like, one of the most famous women on the planet, chances are there might be an annoying paparazzi situation at some point in their lives. Start 'em early, Mimi.

Get on the phone with your colorist STAT because it's sooo 2011 to have an electrifying hair hue. Britney Spears busted some hot pink and black streaks in her "I Wanna Go" video. Evidently, when asked if she'd like to wear some standard-issue blonde hairpiece, Britney replied, "No thanks. I choose my destiny" (get it??) and opted for some fluorescence amid her golden low-lighted locks. Perfectly placed, excellently executed! Brava to BRITNEY.
On the other end of the neon-hair spectrum, we have Lady Gaga, who proved that the hot hair hue trend does NOT have to be relegated to a Pantone prison of the hair just on your HEAD. Gaga rolled up to the 22nd Annual MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto last week rocking an aqua blue wig (obv) but with accompanying ARMPIT HAIR EXTENSIONS. We're all for Gaga's commitment to eclectic steez, but this look makes us wonder if she scalped a Muppet and then triumphantly affixed it to her PITS.
And yes, we realize Rihanna and Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have been going with crazy colors for what seems like forEVER (and Avril, too, obviously), but Britney and Gaga have been doing extensions like at the EXACT same time! JINX! SYNERGY!
Check out Britney's extensions in action in her "I Wanna Go" video, check out our photo gallery of Lady Gaga's craziest hairstyles, get more celebrity hair news you can use at MTV Style and tell us if you'd rock pit extensions!

For me, music is a very emotional thing. Sometimes it makes you cry. (Hats off to you, Mumford And Sons.) Other times it makes you want to break s***. (I can't tell you how many times I've blasted The Bronx in my apartment, started a one-person circle pit and accidentally knocked over a ficus.)
Or it can induce a major case of the ha-has. In the last couple weeks, I've put away the weepy ballads and angst anthems in favor of more lighthearted fair. Enough with the tears and shadowboxing. It's time to start LOLing.
I can't seem to get enough "laugh rock" these days, and thankfully I've got Garfunkel And Oates, Bo Burnham, Flight Of The Conchords and The Lonely Island to tickle my funny bone — and a couple other body parts. (Kidding! Sorta.)
Finally, if you'd like to keep up with all my musings, please visit my website and follow me on Twitter (@redpatterndress).

1. Garfunkel And Oates' "Pregnant Women Are Smug": In the past couple of years, it seems like all of my gal pals have either gotten: a.) engaged, b.) married or c.) pregnant. I'm totally happy for their newfound domestic bliss, but the addition of husband and child have definitely changed the dynamics of our bestiehood. This song by Garfunkel And Oates (aka Riki Lindhome and Kake Miccuci) perfectly sums up the sentiment — all with humor and a heaping helping of snark. I first discovered these funny ladies when they opened for Charlyne Yi at the Upright Citizen's Brigade in Los Angeles, and I've been humming their parodies ever since. If you like this tune, I highly recommend you pick up their latest album, All Over Your Face.
Listen to "Pregnant Women Are Smug"
2. Bo Burnham's "Words, Words, Words": Saying that I kinda love puns is like saying Nicki Minaj kinda like wigs, and there's no other comedian musician that masters the art of the double meaning than Bo Burnham. At the tender age of 20, Burnham is already a comedy veteran, having toured around the world, appeared on "Comedy Central Presents" and signed a multi-album deal with Comedy Central Records. Plus, he's not so hard on the eyes, either. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a boy with floppy hair, a razor-sharp wit and the retro know-how to name-drop a character like Helga Pataki from "Hey Arnold!" into his rhymes.
Listen to "Words, Words, Words"
3. Flight Of The Conchords' "The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)": All a girl ever wants to hear is that she's the most beautiful girl in the room, especially if it's a crowded room, and especially if it's being said by two hilarious dudes from New Zealand. Enter Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. America first met the duo when "Flight Of The Conchords" debuted on HBO in 2007. The series followed the guys struggling to achieve novelty music stardom on the mean streets of New York City. Featuring appearances by fellow funny people like Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman and Aziz Ansari, "Flight Of The Conchords" only ran for two seasons but the band left behind a couple of records containing all of the non-hits from the series. I used to set my alarm to this song every morning, and there's nothing like starting the day with someone serenading you with, "And when you're on the street/Depending on the street/I bet you are definitely in the top three good-looking girls on the street/Depending on the street." It's no coincidence that I try and walk down streets with mostly ugly people.
Listen to "The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)"
4. The Lonely Island's "Dreamgirl (Feat. Norah Jones)": When I first saw Norah Jonas on the credits for The Lonely Island's debut album Incredibad, I was skeptical. But then I listened to "Dreamgirl," which is an off-kilter ode to a heavenly lady with a whole lotta problems (i.e. nose like a rhinoceros, skin like asphalt, etc.). It was only when I heard Miss "Don't Know Why" belt out the following lines that I changed my tune: "Last week thought I saw you on the street/Turns out it was a bag of trash/Just a big ol' bag of trash/I thought you looked like a bag of trash." Norah, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I should've known better. Turns out jazz musicians can be funny, too. I wonder if she took lessons from Josh Groban.

We always knew Selena Gomez was a doll. But allowing fans to listen to her album the day before it comes out? That makes her like, what? The nicest pop star ever? And let's not forget that just like queen Beyoncé, Selena has had her fair share of album-leak drama. During the past several weeks, we've heard several leaks of her songs, including "Bang Bang Bang," "Whiplash," "Love You Like A Love Song," "Dilemma" and others. In short, we've already listened to 60 percent of Selena's new record. Even though it doesn't come out until tomorrow.
But Selena has risen above the drama. And to make her gift to fans even sweeter (and us more jealous since it's now clear that she is literally perfect), Selena has also posted several video clips that feature some commentary about each song on her album. According to the videos, one of Selena's favorites is "Whiplash," co-written by Britney Spears. Selena says of her co-writer, "It was a huge honor to me, because I love her and I think she's like the Princess Of Pop.” Of her record "Bang Bang Bang," Selena describes how she "instantly related to the song" and later "rewrote some of the lyrics to tweak it to where it was perfectly about my life... It's basically saying how in a past relationship you may not have been treated properly and you kind of don't really like that person, but then there's a new person in your life that makes you feel like you're the only person in the world that matters," she said in the video. We're out of coy Bieber references, so let's just say it's no shocker who that new "person" in Selena's life is.
Selena Gomez & The Scene's new album, When The Sun Goes Down, is set to drop TOMORROW, and we highly recommend that you go out and cop it immediately.

Last week, we told you about Christina Aguilera's new project, which basically consisted of her singing her ass off with a rock band, and flaunting her moves like Jagger. Of course, having actual moves like Jagger is near impossible, but during her performance of the song on "The Voice," Christina came damn close.
Today, we bring you yet another, blazing-hot Aguilera song. But, this time, it's en Español. "La Casa," Christina Aguilera's latest offering, is slated to appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming Will Ferrell movie "La Casa de Mi Padre." But, don't be fooled, mis amigos. Just because "La Casa" isn't your typical sugary pop record doesn't mean it isn't oozing with classic Aguilera riffs and signature Aguilera vocal prowess. Her booming vocals are more impressive and dramatic than ever. Adding to the theatrics, the song is driven by a classic Latin horn section, rendering us pretty much powerless in the face of all of that passion. Queremos más, por favor!

Is Jennifer Hudson cruising for an E.G.O.T. (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)? Because it sure seems like it! (She's already one quarter of the way there, after all.) The multitalented performer shows off her acting chops in her new video for "No One Gonna Love You," as well as some fine dance moves and that powerful voice that first caught the country's attention when she competed on "American Idol." What can't she do?
In the video's opening scene, Jennifer Hudson wakes up next to her boyfriend and reminds him about their anniversary dinner that night. "You're not gonna be late, right?" she admonishes, to which he responds somewhat flippantly. WTF guy? You'd best be treating Jennifer Hudson better than that!
But as it turns out, it's all a huge fake-out. After being stood up for dinner, she returns home angrily, only to be surprised with champagne, balloons and a ring. I'm not sure why he felt the need to toy with her like that, but she seems happy enough. Note to men: This is the only acceptable way to stand someone up.
In between those two scenes is a whole lot of great singing and dancing, and needless to say, Jennifer looks phenoms-worthy throughout. I wonder what kind of award she'll win next?
