He might be pimping out his Bad Meets Evil album right now, but that doesn't mean Eminem can't keep releasing videos for songs off his 2010 comeback album, Recovery, right? His dramatic, highly NSFW new video "Space Bound" combines the cinematic skills of director Joseph Kahn with Em's tendencies to treat his music and videos like therapy sessions, and the result is compelling, sad, and a little bit confusing.
The video starts with Eminem walking by himself down a deserted road, then getting picked up by someone in a cool classic car. That someone turns out to be his girlfriend, played by former porn actress Sasha Grey, who has been making quite a name for herself in non-porn projects lately. I'd probably be pretty excited to be picked up by Sasha Grey if I were him, but Eminem is full of angst, splitting into two different people as he spits brooding rhymes about a "blood-sucking succubus."
Eminem decides that she's cheating on him and starts to violently attack her, at which point she disappears (was she ever really there?) and he turns his anger inwards in a gruesome, disturbing scene that depicts him shooting himself in the head. Some say it's about his relationship with on-again, off again wife Kim; Sasha Grey speaks more generally, telling MTV News that it shows "even the strongest of love meets destruction at some point." One thing's for sure, though: this man has demons.

We're posting this photo of Justin Bieber for two reasons.
1.) In case you missed this reflexive hilarity, Bieber busted out a sartorial shout-out to everyone's favorite The Maxx waitress, "Saved By The Bell"'s Kelly Kapowski by rocking a tee with her image at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto last week. Although Justin wasn't even born yet when Tiffani Thiessen (side note: I'll never forgive her for dropping the "Amber") shook her pom-poms and vacillated between A.C. Slater and Zack Morris, he still appreciates the '90s-ness of it all. And that makes us want to call him up on our embarrassingly enormous early '90s-style cellphone and tell him we think his shirt is DOPE. We won't even throw a "not" at the end. META pop culture FTW!
Anyway, THEN, Tiffani Thiessen wore a JUSTIN BIEBER T-SHIRT to the "Horrible Bosses" premiere, thus committing the ultimate pop culture Ouroboros.
OH! And the other reason is, HELLO! This photo of Justin and Selena Gomez is HILARIOUS! He's like HEY GIRL! DAMN GIRL.
Check out Justin Bieber wearing a Tiffani Thiessen shirt and Tiffani Thiessen wearing a Justin Bieber shirt at MTV Style. And tell us what you think about Justin Bieber's shirt? Are you so excited and you just can't hide it? Or are you so... scared?

Beyoncé was the first woman to ever headline the UK's historic Glastonbury festival this weekend, and as usual, she knocked it out of the park. She performed songs from way back ("Crazy In Love," anyone?) all the way through her latest, 4, and had the crowd (of 175,000!) on their feet. She was also wearing this super-short gold sequined outfit, so like, once again she wins everything.
Every time we see a new photo of Beyoncé we remind ourselves, "Yep, perfection," and this snapshot is no exception. Beyoncé poses on stage between songs like she's posing for Vogue, and we ain't mad at her. Every single thing is on point -- seriously, how is this woman real?! And needless to say -- those legs? BRB, going on a 15-mile run.

With roots in jazz, funk, zydeco, cajun, blues and pop, few spots in the U.S. are more musically diverse than Louisiana. Two hours west of New Orleans, Lafayette quintet GIVERS have channeled these myriad influences to become your MTV PUSH Artist of the Week. Formed by lead singer/guitarist Taylor Guarisco and lead singer/percussionist Tiffany Lamson in 2005, the group's joyful, exuberant pop, filtered through Vampire Weekend-inspired afrobeat, led to a 2009 eponymous EP and the eventual release of In Light, GIVERS' debut full-length.
We've got a number of live performances and interviews to make you a GIVERS expert in minutes. First, get the exclusive first look at the band's official video for lead single "Up, Up, Up," where the group hangs out both on the street and in the clouds.
Then it's time to travel with the band. In Lafayette, the group discusses how they all met and how Hurricane Katrina influenced the band. "Everybody bounces off each other when it comes to music," says bassist Josh LeBlanc about the city. In Austin, Texas, watch the band prepare for their appearance at the annual South by Southwest music festival. "We're living the dream because we're getting to tap into this thing that we love with the people that we love," says lead singer Taylor Guarisco.
Improvisation has played a major role in the inspiration and creation of In Light. (The genesis of "Up, Up, Up" came from the band's second improvised show.) In the final set of videos, learn about how the band's love of spontaneous jamming led to what you hear on the album. And expect to hear a lot more from this band in the near future.

Justin Bieber spiced up his all-black outfit with some red kicks and a matching watch as he made his entrance at girlfriend Selena Gomez's Monte Carlo movie screening in NYC last night. He arrived separately from his girlfriend, which was probably a wise move considering the chaos that erupted when Biebs was by himself in New York earlier in the week promoting his new fragrance Someday. Imagine if they both stepped out the same limo?!
Justin is kind of reminding us of someone in this photo, though. That look, that stance, that IDGAF attitude -- it all looks very familiar...

Ahh, right! Our favorite little "Haters gonna hate" guy. He's the best! We've learned so much from him over the years, and it seems like J. Biebs has too. He's got it down pat.

We've been following Chicago synth-pop trio Hey Champ since last summer, when we discovered their "Cold Dust Girl" video (shame on us for sleeping on that!), which landed them an opening slot for Lupe Fiasco. And, of course, we played "Anything At All" on repeat last month. So, not to brag or anything, but now we've got the exclusive video premiere for their new song, "Silver City."
Taken from the recently released Anything At All EP, the breezy, bubbly synth-heavy track is well-suited for the dance floor, with a video mirroring the group's playful sound. In between takes of recording and performing, we get a (real-life?) day in the life of the group, starting with a casual meal and ending with petty theft. Happens!
In between, we see the guys getting ready for a night out, complete with wardrobe upgrade and record shopping. Chicago hipsters, take note: Pink hoodie, hunting jacket, short shorts and a plaid hat turned sideways are de rigueur for spring/summer 2011. After shopping, the guys hit up a massive party, DJing for the crowd and generally having more fun than you.
As evidenced by the lyrics, Hey Champ has an unfailing devotion to their home city, even when the guys are getting their busking money stolen from right underneath them. Damn, didn't any of you guys watch "The Chicago Code"?
+ Watch Hey Champ's "Silver City" video.
As the logical follow-up to their wine of the month club, storied soft rock band Train unveiled their signature "Drops Of Jupiter" wine this week, which is named after one of their early hits. What does it taste like? I'm guessing a smooth petite Syrah with top notes of soul patch and rocker hair. "We're trying to create just this little vibe, where people come to our shows, bring a picnic basket and bottle of wine," guitarist Jimmy Stafford told Billboard. (I wonder what the security teams at the venues they play at think about that?)
Anyway, in honor of this momentous occasion, we've compiled a list of four more celebrity drinks we'd like to try. We're usually the Diet Coke types, but maybe it's time we swirl some of these around in our mouths?
Lil' Jon's CRUNK!!! Energy Drink: According to its autoplay-happy website, CRUNK!!! is all about "revving up your life--in a bold, all natural way!" It also offers CRUNK!!! Energy Stix, which, as far as we can tell, are basically pixie stix with a "proprietary blend" of ancient crunkifying herbs added. And despite posting a song called "Acta Fool" on his website, Lil' Jon wants you to enjoy CRUNK!!! responsibly; no "Crunktails" unless you're 21. Can we say "Crunk" one more time?
Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez's Tap Water: Remember this stuff? These three celebs drew forth magical tap water from their golden faucets so that people would donate to UNICEF in exchange for a chance to win a taste of the sweet, sweet, famous person fluid. It's the next best thing to getting a clipping of their hair, and it's probably more delicious than our tap water!
Marilyn Manson's "Mansinthe": In keeping with his über-Goth image, shock rocker Marilyn Manson got in on the recent resurgence in absinthe's popularity with his own special version called Mansinthe. (Manson + absinthe = MANSINTHE, get it?!) According to a 2007 interview in Spin, he isn't fronting: Dude drinks a ton of absinthe. Way to put your liver where your mouth is.

Charlie Sheen's Tiger Blood: JK, this one's not a real drink. But if were, we probably couldn't handle it...socially. Even if it would turn us into "a total fricking rock star from Mars," we don't think we could handle the "Warning" label: "You might lose your job, be excommunicated from society and begin to scare small children."
What about you guys? Have you had any of these drinks? Which ones do we need to try and which ones should we pour down the drain? Let us know!

Getting new music from Coldplay is kinda like getting a ninth gift on the eighth night of Hanukkah -- bonus! In contrast to "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall," Coldplay's soaring and melodic first single off their forthcoming EP, their latest offering, "Minor Minus," is a gritty, somewhat angrier tune that gives us an idea of the variety we've got to look forward to on their upcoming album.
In "Minor Minus," Coldplay ditches their signature warmth and replaces it with lo-fi vocals, unadorned guitars and rather ominous lyrics. Chris Martin sings, "We got one eye watching you, one eye on what you do, so be careful cause nothing you say is true." In other words, he's basically giving us the side eye.
After a few more spins through their new material, it's clear that Coldplay's "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall," (aka "Viva La Vida" 2.0), pays homage to their classic sound and "Vida's" success. In contrast, "Minor Minus" seems like a song that a record label might not like since it might not be considered "radio-friendly." But kudos to Coldplay for fighting the good fight and standing by your material. After all, you know a little something about what it takes to make a hit record.

Welcome back to Flashback Friday, in which I dig into MTV's massive archives to bring you great videos from the past. I don't know if it's today's grey sky or the fact that this humidity has me feeling ready to jump out of my skin, but I've been listening to my old Radiohead records all morning, and they are still so, so good. Nobody expresses itchy postmodern angst quite like that band of British geniuses. So let's set the time machine to 1997 and check out the award-winning video for "Karma Police."
Following the international success of their 1992 single "Creep," many thought Radiohead might be a one-hit wonder. Although it did well with critics and at home in the U.K., their 1995 sophomore effort The Bends only peaked at #88 on the U.S. rock charts. However, their 1997's OK Computer solidified their place in pop culture and music history.
Aided by its minimal, disturbing video, "Karma Police" quickly became a huge hit in the U.S., peaking at #14. (This was a particularly impressive accomplishment at a time when late-nineties "nu metal" acts like Limp Bizkit were ruling the charts.) Directed by Jonathan Glazer (who also directed that year's popular video for Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity"), the clip reflected Radiohead's running fascination with, and fear of, totalitarian government. Textured guitars, electronic effects, and Thom Yorke's haunting vocals combined to create a compelling sound that was both a continuation of the nineties alt-rock tradition and a progression into the new millennium. As you may know, the band hasn't stopped progressing since, with eight awesome studio albums to date (and counting!).
Watch the video for "Karma Police" below, and rock out to the sound of your own malaise.
