In this past year, Google has become more than just an internet titan. It's also a hitching post to which celebrities can tether their promotional bandwagons. The tech giant first got Mother Monster herself to back the brand. And this week, Justin Bieber's Google Chrome ad was released, and may we just say, it's gotta be the most emo advertisement for the internet EVER.
In the minute-long ad, which is backed by a pathos-driven acoustic version of Bieber's hit song "Baby," we see Justin's trajectory as he goes from an obscure tot in Stratford, Ontario, recording and posting songs on YouTube, to arguably one of the most famous people on planet Earth. We see Bieber singing for his mentor Usher, and we watch his YouTube views climb from zero to stratospheric. His star rises until we see shots of Bieber getting mobbed by swarms of hysterical fans. It's more sweet than swag.
Aside from totally selling us on whatever it is that makes Google Chrome look a lot prettier than other web browsers, for anyone who dreams big, this ad is undeniably inspirational. After all, we're all just a few million YouTube hits away from fame.
