For three guys so enamored of weed (WHICH WE DO NOT CONDONE, OK?), MCs Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Curren$y have been producing music at a frenetic rate and releasing tracks on a seemingly daily basis. Big Sean recently spoke on the collaborative mixtape the trio have been working on, and we now have "Weed Brownies," the third song released after "Flowers" and "O.T.T.R." came out earlier this week. (We don't actually have weed brownies, sorry.)
With its swirling synths, wah-wah guitars and prominent, calculating bass line, the Big Jerm-produced track sounds like a modern version of a 1970s blaxploitation soundtrack. Big Sean's always been the most energetic of the three, but the contrast between Wiz and Curren$y's laid-back stoner vibe and Sean's relatively rapid-fire flow staves off any monotonous repetition.
The title is a slight misnomer, though, as each MC focuses on the generalities of their life rather than their favorite green, sticky subject. "Weed, money and hoes, what a hell of a night/ Night? F*** you mean, this is everyday life," rhymes Sean. Indubitably, good sir.
Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y previously worked together on 2009's "How Fly" mixtape, but no word yet on the title or timing of the trio's collaborative album. With this much music coming out recently, though, the wait shouldn't be too long.
