I always knew that somewhere hidden beneath Nicki Minaj's neon-lipped, booty dance-themed "Super Bass" video was a softer, more tender version. Cue USC college student Peter Lee Johnson.

Peter has been playing violin since he was 4 years old, and although I'm sure he's well-versed in all the violin standards, he turned to his YouTube channel to showcase his pop prowess, most recently with a cover of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass." (Because I know then when I hear the words "Got stacks on deck like he savin' up," I definitely think "Bring out the classical instruments!") But as odd of a juxtaposition as it might sound like, the resulting cover is actually very sweet and gives us a bit of a romantic take on the bass-heavy song. Think Kanye West's "All Of The Lights" intro.

Aside from Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," Peter has used his violin to cover Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me," Cee Lo Green's "F*** You" and Katy Perry's "Firework." BONUS: He's also a cutie. #thankyouinternetgods

For three guys so enamored of weed (WHICH WE DO NOT CONDONE, OK?), MCs Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Curren$y have been producing music at a frenetic rate and releasing tracks on a seemingly daily basis. Big Sean recently spoke on the collaborative mixtape the trio have been working on, and we now have "Weed Brownies," the third song released after "Flowers" and "O.T.T.R." came out earlier this week. (We don't actually have weed brownies, sorry.)

With its swirling synths, wah-wah guitars and prominent, calculating bass line, the Big Jerm-produced track sounds like a modern version of a 1970s blaxploitation soundtrack. Big Sean's always been the most energetic of the three, but the contrast between Wiz and Curren$y's laid-back stoner vibe and Sean's relatively rapid-fire flow staves off any monotonous repetition.

The title is a slight misnomer, though, as each MC focuses on the generalities of their life rather than their favorite green, sticky subject. "Weed, money and hoes, what a hell of a night/ Night? F*** you mean, this is everyday life," rhymes Sean. Indubitably, good sir.

Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y previously worked together on 2009's "How Fly" mixtape, but no word yet on the title or timing of the trio's collaborative album. With this much music coming out recently, though, the wait shouldn't be too long.

Even though the whole J. Lo and Marc Anthony divorce crisis is still making us super sad over here, we have to move on! Enter Pitbull and Marc Anthony's new video, "Rain On Me." Even though Marc is 50 percent responsible for one of the saddest celebrity breakups we've had to endure in recent months, he's also 50 percent responsible for the dope new Latin-infused dance song and video. We'll call it even.

Set in the desert in a decked-out bachelor pad stocked with booze, a leather couch and a crazy powerful fan (WHERE CAN WE GET ONE?), Pitbull and Marc conveniently bump into several gorgeous brunettes wandering alone on the sand. Of course being the chivalrous pop stars that they are, they invite the women in for some shelter and a much-needed glass of water (and/or vodka). After hanging with the ladies (some of whom double as snake charmers?), Pitbull and Marc take a break to dance around/fist-pump together in the middle of the desert. International Desert Dance Law, duh. Then "Rain On Me" comes to a romantic close as the desert suddenly transforms into an underground grotto filled with tons of bikini clad babes. Just like Casablanca.

Might the video imagery of a drought to water be indicative of a J. Lo and Marc reconciliation? Maybe they're "watering" the plant that is their relationship? Or maybe not. Obviously I'm having a hard time coping...

What's being deemed Demi Lovato's "comeback song," her newest single, "Skyscraper," is really resonating with both old fans and Demi newcomers alike. The song, released July 12, shot to the top spot on iTunes within hours of its release, debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 100 and currently holds the No. 2 spot on Billboard's Digital Songs list. Way to go, girl!

Why is "Skyscraper" so huge? Demi thinks it's because so many other pop songs "have become so much about partying and about clubs," according to an exclusive interview with the VH1 Blog. "I think people will get sick of hearing about drinking all the time... I'm not old enough to go to clubs, and I have a hard time relating to those songs." And given that "Skyscraper" is such an emotional song, it's easy to see why so many people have connected to it (My "friend" has listened to it 40 times a day while weeping in the fetal position).

Now, Demi's continuing to spread the "Skyscraper" love -- she's released a Spanish version of the song, titled "Rascacielo." During a live chat yesterday, Demi revealed her album release date (Sept. 20!) and let fans hear her best español. Not only is her accent on point, but "Rascacielo" is equally as beautiful as the English version. Sure, we can't identify every word (lo siento, high school Spanish teacher), but we can still feel the rawness and passion behind the lyrics.

Gracias, Demi. Finally, another song to add to our all-"Skyscraper"-all-the-time playlist. (Don't judge!)

Courtney Love managed to tear herself away from Tumblr long enough (we know, it's so hard) to hit the town in London last night. The What Courtney Wore Today webmaster and a friend were seen in London's Soho neighborhood, and the former Hole frontwoman was working that sidewalk like it was a runway. That, or maybe she just had one too many? It's a fine line, really.

You know, since Courtney Love takes fashion photos for her blog so often (and the woman seriously owns some enviable clothes), we're kind of wondering why she doesn't parlay her love for all things sartorial into a side gig or something, à la Lady Gaga's V magazine column. After all, Courtney Love was a '90s fashion ICON. We think the lady knows a thing or two about starting a trend. Yo, Condé Nast, hook this sister up!

+ The always outspoken Tyler, The Creator is unsurprisingly not holding anything back about his 2011 MTV VMA nominations. The Best New Artist and Video Of The Year nominee tweeted, "IF I F***ING LOSE TO F***ING BRUNO F***ING MARS I'M GOING ON A KILLING SPREE. DEADASS." Tyler! RELAX! (Rap-Up)

+ NOT using f-bombs regarding his Best New Artist nod is VMA nominee Wiz Khalifa. Everything's gravy with the "Black And Yellow" rapper, as he told MTV news: "I think it's really good competition, and it's just a good sign of the new wave of how an artist can come up and get recognition these days." That's what we call "exemplary sportsmanship." (MTV News)

+ Rude! After her drum solo (which was pretty kick-ass, BTW), Rihanna got her hair pulled twice at the Detroit stop on her LOUD tour. How many times do we have to say it: Do not touch the pop stars. CLick through to watch the video. (Idolator)

+ Ke$ha, Lily Allen, and Pitbull are just some of the names being passed around in regards to who might be involved in the making of T-Pain's new album, rEVOLVEr. His good friend Auto-Tune will also be on hand. (Rolling Stone)

+ Although nothing is official quite yet, check out everything fans think might be happening on the set of Lady Gaga's new video, currently being filmed in Nebraska. No offense, NE, but this is probably the most exciting thing to happen to you since... ever? (ONTD)

My imaginary BFF Taylor Swift was out and about doing a little shopping today in NYC, and frankly, I'm kind of upset she didn't call me. Ever since I went on that Taylor Swift cruise with her back in January, she hasn't been returning my calls. Maybe it's because I don't have her number or she actually has no clue who I am but either way, unfair, Tay. I'm, like, a super complimentary shopping partner.

Regardless, it doesn't look like the "The Story Of Us" singer has any trouble shopping. Thumbs all the way up on that uh-dorable blue dress! And the cute pink bow shoes, oversize shades and the pop of red on her lips are the perfect touches. Honestly, Taylor, Ciara and Rihanna need to become adjunct professors at my local community college and teach classes. Something like "WORKING IT 110: How To Access Your Inner Diva." Guest lecturers to include Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé.

Planking is soooooo passé, guys. Even though everyone (including Katy Perry and Chris Brown) was plank-obsessed only a couple short weeks ago, the cruel and fickle world of random internet trends has dictated that planking is OUT and owling is IN. I know it's hard to keep up, but the internet is kind of like an Urban Outfitters catalog -- just do what it says.

WTF is owling, you ask? Let me break it down: Rather than lying facedown on a random object with your palms pressed against you and your feet pointed downward, owling simply requires the owl-er to crouch down on an object with their knees pressed into their chest and their arms flat against their sides. The result creates a look much like... an owl. And why are people doing this, you ask? Whooooooo knows, but 5,000 people "Like" owling on Facebook, so it must be the start of something.

While there may not be as many celebrity owling pics as there were celebrity planking pics, Hilary Duff is boldly going where other celebs have not yet dared to go by owling on her dining room table. She tweeted, "Didn't wanna hit carmageddon so I'm just owling all weekend!"

I'm wondering if there will ever be a crazy internet photo craze called, like "Reading" or something, with pictures of people holding books over their faces and looking at them intently. That would be so weird!

What would it take for you to pack up everything you own and drive to Los Angeles with no job or future prospects? As a teenager in Greenville, South Carolina, Nikki Lane did exactly that, slogging through random jobs while writing the first of many country- and rockabilly-inspired songs. While living in New York years later, Lane's boyfriend broke up with her to record an album of his own, allowing the singer to channel her pain and anger into her songs. You probably know where this is going.

As she became a student of outlaw country singers like Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, Nikki Lane's material became more focused, leading to the just-released Gone, Gone, Gone EP and upcoming release of the singer's debut LP, Walk of Shame. At least breakups are good for something.

"Gone, Gone, Gone," the album's lead single produced by Fool's Gold's Lewis Pesacov, is an exuberant kiss-off to her native city, showcasing the singer's itinerant lifestyle spent crisscrossing the country. Lane is that one friend that always gets antsy spending too much time in one spot, and on "Gone, Gone, Gone," her lack of deserved recognition manifests itself musically. "19 years I've been here waiting/for something good to come my way," sings Lane. "But there is no sign of my luck changing/Even though my bills have sure been paid."

There's a shortage of badass female country singers today who can outdrink you and write a gorgeous melody afterward. And given the strength of Lane's material, look for her luck to be changing very soon.

Gone, Gone, Gone is out now through IAMSOUND. Walk of Shame is set for release Sept. 27.

+ Listen to Nikki Lane.
