As if I needed yet another reason to be obsessed with Cee Lo. In the new video for his song "Cry Baby," the "F--- You" singer is actually nowhere to be found. He has instead chosen to use an alternate protagonist to star in his video: one of my fondest childhood memories, STEVE URKEL AS HIS ALTER EGO STEFAN URQUELLE!!! (Actually, it's actor Jaleel White, but who's counting?)
For those of you not familiar with the Steve Urkel vs. Stefan Urquelle situation (Wait, did you seriously not watch "Family Matters"???), here's a quick lesson: Stefan Urquelle is the genetically-altered, cooler version of the super nerdy Steve Urkel. It was probably one of the greatest makeover montages of the '90s!
Anyway, in the '50s-inspired video, a super fresh Stefan (Jaleel) breaks up with a teary-eyed girl and dances around in the street (flash mob-style!) with a bunch of his friends to celebrate. While Cee Lo may have been getting royally effed over in the "F--- You" video, in "Cry Baby" he's the heartbreaker: "When some time goes by/I'm sure that you'll feel better/But if she needs to cry/Then maybe I should let her/Cry, cry baby/I guess that I'm the bad guy now." You cold, Cee Lo.
The fact that the song is super catchy and cheeky is only just a plus, because as far as we're concerned, any video that stars Steve Urkel or Stefan Urquelle deserves to be watched. Over and over again. (Come back to us, "Family Matters.")
+ Watch Cee Lo's "Cry Baby" video, and watch Jaleel White himself take you through the video.
