Anyone who tours for months on end overseas deserves a hard work medal or something when they come back to the states. Or in Katy Perry's case, a new stage, a new wardrobe and a new set of dancers. Though we should probably throw in the medal, too, since Katy somehow found the time to invite us behind-the-scenes of her reworked U.S. leg of her "California Dreams" tour in a new video diary. (P.S. Homegirl's also got NINE 2011 MTV VMA nominations and just tied Michael Jackson for most No. 1 singles off the same album, so like, I'll press the medal myself if I have to!)
The behind-the-scenes footage shows "Katherine Perry" (as her hairstylist affectionately refers to her) checking out her new stage, talking to miniature dolls sewn on her costume (?), and practicing shooting her large, candy cane foam gun (you know, NBD). In the video we also meet "California Dreams" tour director Baz Halpin, who explains, "It's great that every time [the tour] goes back to a new territory, it's gotten bigger and it's different and there's new elements added. And it's Katy making sure that everybody gets a fresh perspective and fresh new show every time they go see it."
Finally, the clip wraps up with some footage of an intense dance rehearsal, and an emotional last shot of fans finally reaping the benefits of all her hard work. A behind-the-scenes tour video that also makes us teary and emo? Katy Perry is good at everything.
