There are those rare moments in life when you feel lucky to be born. Not even being dramatic (OK, maybe a little), watching Demi Lovato perform "Skyscraper" live at VH1 "Do Something Awards" is totes one of those times. WARNING: Serious goose bumps ahead.
The "Do Something Awards" offered a variety of performances, but it was Demi's stunning rendition of "Skyscraper" that stole our hearts. Seeing that it was the first time she's sung the hit live, you'd think she'd be a nervous wreck. But not Demi -- homegirl owns the stage in a shimmery dress and shows the microphone who's boss, hitting every single note like it's her last.
I don't know what got me more: The emotional lyrics, the serious passion in her face while she sang them or the fact that Demi's been through some tough times and she's really come out on the other side so gracefully. Disney child star no more, y'all. She is a certifiable adult (She turns 19 tomorrow! Go, shawty.) with some seriously legit pipes.
As the song comes to a close and you have enough chills to go around the world twice, the stage begins to rise ("LIKE A SKYSCRAAAAPER!!") and smoke billows out from below it and AHHHH! Basically, we lost it. LOST. IT. À la this GIF of children under a rainbow strobe light praising a dinosaur man.
