Katy Perry didn't have any explosive live performances at the 2011 VMAs, but her win for Video Of The Year was just one of three for the 26-year-old singer. The extravagant video for "Firework" won the night's top award, while Perry's sci-fi-themed "E.T." with Kanye West snagged Moonmen for Best Collaboration and Best Special Effects.
"It's always exciting to be a part of the VMAs because there's so much spontaneity," she told MTV News. "I just remember growing up seeing craziness ensued with the VMAs. I wasn't allowed to see it, but I done watched it!"
Perry accepted the Best Collaboration award with West, setting up one of the night's most memorable, and uncomfortable, moments. "Now, this is a time when you want to interrupt me, Kanye," Perry said, referencing Swiftgate '09. "Oh my goodness, it's nothing like your first time. Your first Moonman, right?" Perry apparently forgot West already picked up Moonmen for 2005's "Jesus Walks" and 2008's "Good Life." "No, I have one," West politely reminded her.
Perry has been a VMA mainstay since 2008, when "I Kissed A Girl" earned the singer five nominations. Since then, she's performed Queen's "We Will Rock You" with Aerosmith's Joe Perry and racked up 18 total nominations.
