Slated to appear on Kelly Clarkson's forthcoming album, Stronger, (out Oct. 24), "You Love Me" is another uptempo jam, which Kelly knows a thing or two about at this point. Backed by a perfectly polished track, the record has the sugary-pop vibe of "Since U Been Gone" but goes deeper lyrically. Just as she did in her video for "Mr. Know It All," Kelly proves resilient and tells her haters, whether she's talking to the press or a terrible ex-boyfriend, that she's strong enough to stand alone: "You didn't let me down/You didn't tear me apart/You just opened my eyes/While breaking my heart/You didn't do it for me/I'm not as dumb as you think."
The song goes on to reveal a softer, more slowed-down bridge layered with Kelly's harmonies. Some of her strength dissipates as she eventually reveals that she was truly hurt by this mystery guy who, by the way, is a complete idiot: "Your love/Hurts deeper/Like a brick in the sea/And I'm drowning with it."
Listen Kel, don't even worry. Guys are idiots! And just remember -- feel free to remind any D-bag that, ya know, you WON "AMERICAN IDOL" so they should prolly just step back.
