OK, whose totally brill idea was it to pair Gym Class Heroes with Oh Land? They should get a medal, or at least 20 percent of the copyright or something. Gym Class Heroes are prepping for the release of their forthcoming album The Papercut Chronicles II, out Nov. 15, and their super dreamy collabo with Oh Land, "Life Goes On" will undoubtedly be a standout track. Though you never would have guessed, Gym Class Heroes' grungy hip-hop vibe pairs really well with the sparkly, dreamy tone of Oh Land's voice.
Set to a slow but powerful hip-hop track, Travie McCoy rhymes about his everlasting commitment to his new gal: "Thinking what I would have done different/Not a damn thing/'Cause finally I'm done with it/Besides, I got a girl that adores me/And I never take for granted the things she does for me.../Let's go ahead with these wedding plans." Oh Land pops up to sing the song's hook, which is all about taking life by the proverbial cajones: "Oh, when the day is gone/Oh, when the nights are long/Life goes on/Gotta live it up till its gone/Cause we won't be around too long/Life goes on." Later, Travie and Oh Land come together for a quick duet on the bridge and really drive home the song's message: "We take too much for granted.../I just can't understand it/Is it really that hard to smile?"
Great call on using a dope song to remind everyone to seize the day, guys. Life DOES go on so carpe effing diem.
