Young Money likes to keep it all in the fam. First, Drake collabos with his Young Money bossman Lil Wayne on the emotional "The Real Her," and then he shares the mic with his fake galpal and Young Money cohort Nicki Minaj on "Make Me Proud."
Today, the Young Money lovefest continues as Drake once again collaborates with his head honcho, Weezy. As opposed to "The Real Her" which showed the softer side of both rappers, "The Motto" is a clear hat tip to what famous rhyme masters do best: go out and live a great fun life 'cause they're rich and famous! DUH, guys. Over a sparse beat, Drake elaborates: "Now you want a photo/You don't really know though/You only live once/That's the motto."
Lil Wayne's goes in on the song next, rapping about his burgeoning Young Money empire: "I'm so young money/Got a drum on the gun/Energizer Bunny/Funny how honey ain't sweet like sugar." If you're still looking for further clarification into the song's meaning, Drake spoke to radio station Power 106 about the meaning behind his new record: "This is me and the bossman. It’s a straight West Coast thing, no joking around." We actually didn't think you were rapping in jest, Drizzy, but glad to hear you're all serious all the time!
