Common's already put out a cool EIGHT studio albums, and he's slated to release his ninth, The Dreamer/The Believer on Dec. 20. While the Grammy award-winning rapper has put out tons of singles over the years, his new tune "Sweet" is undoubtedly one of his most important and socially provocative. Inspired by his trip to Haiti, the "Sweet" video was not only shot in Haiti, but it also documents the devastation left by the earthquake there in 2010.
In the beautifully shot video, Common is seen walking through the crowded streets of the Caribbean country. He passes dilapidated houses, run-down stores and piles of rubble still amassed on the streets. But through all of the destruction, "Sweet" is still able to portray the beauty that once pervaded the land, and the power and will of the Haitian people to rebuild their community. With this video, Common is one of many celebrities using their star power to garner attention and maintain awareness of the hardships still plaguing the Haitian community.
