Santigold wants you to shut up. Well, maybe not you, but somebody. Her latest video, "Big Mouth," is all about quieting the haters: "Big mouth, big mouth, my, my, my, you've said enough," she sings, killing it in a red carpet-ready little black dress.
That's pretty much the only normal part of the new single's video, which plays like a "SpongeBob SquarePants" episode... on acid. Ish gets straight-up WEIRD: The mostly animated video features a sun stamped with a clock, force field-covered backing dancers, a raining brain, fish with lipstick, boobs with teeth -- the list goes on. DO NOT watch this one on drugs. (Don't do drugs, either!)
There may be a target of Santi White's surreal assault. At one point, she sings, "Ga, ga, ga, all slightly off/Not me, I'll take the loss," as a blonde mermaid clad in Lady Gaga-esque wraparound shades and a crown floats into the mouth of a hungry tiger. Is "Big Mouth" a Gaga diss track or is Santigold goofing around? We have a feeling Mother Monster will let us know. (Or will, you know, keep being the best while squashing beefs with her 10-inch stilettos.)
Throughout the scribbles, White's definitely having a good time. And there's nothing strange about the track's minimalist beats, which remind us of a low-fat take on Kelis' "Milkshake."
