A long, long time ago, we were living in a decade known as "the '90s" -- cameras and phones were separate entities, James Van Der Beek was on TV (not in GIFs), and Britney Spears was a wee lil' baby. OK, not a baby, but she was only 18 years old in 1999 when she starred in this hilarious Japanese commercial for gummy candy. And because it was the '90s, this wasn't even considered cheesy. I KNOW. It was a weird time for everyone.
We stumbled across this video this weekend (because, yes, we're looking at Britney YouTube videos even in our off-hours), and it wouldn't be right to keep it to ourselves. In the clip, Brit's goofing off in a computer-animated airplane, eating gummy candy and BEING ADORABLE. After offering her security guard some treats, he kindly accepts and then joins Brit in her midair dance party -- it's like WTF got together with LOL and made a commercial.
We know Britney's working on some projects of a different caliber these days (a will.i.am collabo, perhaps?), but we still long for the days when people weren't tweeting at every meal and belly shirts were always appropriate. Le sigh.
