New Song: Ester Dean Featuring Nicki Minaj, ‘Gimme Money’

Nicki Minaj lays down a verse on Ester Dean’s “Gimmie Money.”

So, what happens when everyone’s go-to pop scribe Ester Dean goes solo and releases a track featuring Nicki Minaj? FIRE! EN FUEGO! And all other interesting ways to say “This song is BOMB!”

Nicki and Ester previously collaborated when Dean cowrote Nicki’s smash “Super Bass,” so Nicki’s returning the favor by making a cameo on Ester’s solo jam “Gimme Money.” Set to a synth-laden, house-infused beat, Ester Dean claims she doesn’t need any dude’s money — um, DUH she’s written No. 1 hit songs for like, everyone in the game — but would rather have their commitment. “You wanna gimme money/Gim, gimme money/Gimme money/I’d rather have your time…/I’d rather spend your time…/’Cause I got mine.”

Nicki’s blazing hot verse comes in after the hook and, no surprise here, she rhymes about her jet-setting ways and the joys of eating expensive sushi: “I’m up in Hong Kong/Rocking Shojono Tomo/Lobster sushi rolls/With a side of soy sauce/Chopsticks, you know we don’t give a fork.” I’m more of a yellowtail girl myself, but I can totally get behind some expensive lobster any day.

While “Gimme Money” hasn’t yet been confirmed as the first single from Dean’s forthcoming Interscope release, she did ask her fans to get the song name trending on Twitter as a way to test the waters: “If you guys Love Gimme Money ft Nicki Minaj as my Single let’s get it Trending #GimmeMoney #TeamDean.”

Are you on #TeamDean? Do you think “Gimme Money” is a strong first single? Sound off in the comments.
