Jay-Z and his protégée Rita Ora at New York's Z100 Radio
Born in Pristina, Kosovo, Rita moved to the U.K. and grew up in London. In 2007, Rita appeared on Craig David's track "Awkward" (P.S. Missin' you, Craig) and in 2008 on Tinchy Stryder's "Where's Your Love." Piggybacking on the buzz from these tracks, Roc Nation heard about Rita and Jay-Z decided to sign her in 2009. Rita's since appeared in Jay-Z's video for "Young Forever," a Roc Nation commercial and a ton of other supercool things that make us insanely jealous. We should also mention her own song "Hot Right Now" already has more than 6 million views. Balling, beyond.

So I guess being Jay-Z's protégée means that when you do press for your new song, sometimes your good pal Jay comes to visit! (Totes normal.) Last night, Jay-Z surprised the Z100 team by showing up at the studio to help introduce Rita's new song "Party and Bulls***." The sugary sweet pop record kind of reminds us a bit of Jessie J's "Domino" and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," but mixed with some dope "I was signed by Jay-Z" edge. In her gritty voice, Rita sings: "We got that sweet, hot loving/Dancing in the dark/Out in the streets we running/Shut down every bar/So put your arms around me, baby/We tearing up the town/'Cause that's just how we do."
On Rita and his visit to Z100, Jay said, "This was all very spontaneous... we knew they would like what they heard 'cause Rita is amazing. This is what radio is all about -- feeling, emotion and discovering new music and artists and sharing it with a huge audience." We're feeling Rita's new song big time. But duh, JAY-Z TOLD US TO LIKE IT!
