MGK talks working with Diddy and Waka Flocka Flame in this week’s POSTED.
You may remember MGK from his killer performance during the MTV Woodies Awards Festival and as the Breaking Woodie winner for 2012, but now we properly celebrate the Cleveland-grown rapper as the MTV POSTED artist for August. All month long we follow the “Invincible” rapper through exclusive interviews and videos over at POSTED.MTV.com.
This week, MGK tells us what it was like working with Diddy (the rapper signed MGK to his Bad Boy label in late 2011) and tells a story about how Waka Flocka Flame almost didn’t make it on set for his “Wild Boy” music video!

In the video, MGK chats about having nothing but gratitude toward Diddy, but he admits that even though the two have unique artistic visions, it always comes out better than imagined with Diddy’s suggestions. “I was all like we got to go serious [in his music]… but if we would have went that way, [If Diddy didn’t suggest it] I probably would have already fizzled out.” First lesson in showbiz, guys: Always listen to Diddy.
MGK then shares a funny story about how Waka Flocka Flame’s cameo for the video for “Wild Boy” almost didn’t happen. He tells us how he heard Waka yelling at his mom over the phone for forgetting to remind him that he had to go to the shoot (LOL!). Luckily, it all worked out. But if there are any future collabos in the works, we suggest MGK gets Waka a day planner.
