Kelly Clarkson totally dominates her cover of Florence & The Machine’s “Shake It Out.”
Don’t get me wrong — I am ALL about Kelly Clarkson’s original material (um, hello, her song “Dark Side” is up for a “Best Video With A Message VMA!), but this cover of Florence + The Machine‘s “Shake It Out” is SO BOMB WE CAN’T EVEN TAKE IT. Maybe Kelly should think about putting out a covers record? Or performing at my wedding???
Watch Kelly Clarkson cover Florence & The Machine’s “Shake It Out” after the jump.
While out on her “Stronger” tour, Kelly has been taking cover song requests via Twitter, ’cause really, who doesn’t adore a well-done tribute? (Now that we think of it, wasn’t that essentially what she did on “American Idol”? Cover songs? ::Puts two and two together::)
Clarkson was a true musical visionary when she covered Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” she was spot on for Britney Spears’ “Everytime,” made Gwen proud with her cover of No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak, and THRILLED US to no end with her rendition of TLC‘s “No Scrubs (which could really be a sister song to “Since U Been Gone.” Amirite?). And now, she’s completely annihilated this version of Florence + The Machine‘s “Shake It Out.” Before singing, Kelly confessed her fans, “If I screw this up, I’m sorry Florence and YouTube!” Apologies? Girl, you cray. Not only did you nail the vocals, but you paid your respects by sticking to the original melody. Class act all the way. Also, two words: COVER. ALBUM. Thanks.
