Kevin Rudolf, Limp Bizkit, Birdman, and Lil Wayne proclaim themselves “Champions.” Sounds about right.
Young Money/Cash Money is undoubtedly one of the hottest hip-hop labels around, period. When you’ve got Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj on your team, that’s a pretty good start — so it’s unsurprising that resident YMCMB rocker Kevin Rudolf wrote “Champions,” a celebratory song about the label’s baller status. Plus it’s only fitting that Rudolf include some industry veterans on the track, like say Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Limp Bizkit. OK, OK, these dudes may not have their own stadium yet (kinda) like Jay-Z, but I think it’s fair to say that they’re still winning at life. This could be like, three steps behind stadium status. Maybe two.
Listen to Kevin Rudolf featuring Limp Bizkit, Lil Wayne, and Birdman’s “Champions” after the jump.
On “Champions,” Kevin Rudolf shouts to the world (haters included) that he and his crew aren’t going anywhere: “Here we are, we are the champions/ We go so far, they said it can’t be done/ We right here, and we’re still No. 1.” That’s enough to get anyone psyched up, and it seemed to work pretty well as WWE’s theme for Night Of Champions 2012. It’ll surely work well in NBA locker rooms and on your weight training mix.
Anyway, Weezy elaborates on their baller status in, shall we say, more colorful terms. “In the meantime, imma have a nice time/ went from a con artist to an icon/ got the keys to success to on my key ring/ used to dream about sugar, ‘sweet dreams.'” (Never change, Weezy.) And you know it’s not bragging if you can back it up! So gloat away, guys. You’ve earned it.
