We Came As Romans Covered The Wanted’s ‘Glad You Came,’ And We’re Glad They Did (VIDEO)

We Came As Romans covered The Wanted’s “Glad You Came,” and it actually makes a lot of sense.

It’s risky business covering a song like The Wanted‘s ”Glad You Came.” Not only has everyone in the entire universe heard it about ten thousand times, but if you don’t do it justice, you can rest assured you’re gonna have hoards of angry The Wanted Stans banging down your door. And then probably screaming and tweeting nasty things at you. But, thankfully for Detroit, MI rockers and “Buzz On” alums We Came As Romans, they did the song justice… and then some.

Slated to appear on Punk Goes Pop 5 (the same album with Forever The Sickest Kids’ cover of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” and The Maine’s cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”), We Came As Romans’ take on The Wanted’s sparkling pop smash doesn’t stray too far from the original, but it does manage to incorporate a little of their rocker edge into the otherwise pretty pop song. And did we mention the boys made a full music video for their cover? And that it features the boys shirtless, playing around on boats, and flirting with hot babes on Michigan’s Pontiac Lake? We know — Michigan isn’t quite Ibiza (where The Wanted shot their “Glad You Came” video), but it’ll definitely do.

About their new video, guitarist/lyricist Joshua Moore explains, “We’ve always done really serious music videos, normally with story lines and a bunch of production, but for a while now we really just wanted to do a fun video… we hope you enjoy viewing it as much as we enjoyed making it!” Trust us, we absolutely did. All 90,000 times we’ve seen it so far. Be on the lookout for We Came As Romans when they hit the road for a Latin American tour with August Burns Red in December followed by the “Take Action Tour” with The Used at the top of 2013.
