Fall Out Boy’s “Save Rock And Roll” album art is HERE!

As if we weren’t already excited enough about “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up),” earlier today Fall Out Boy unveiled the cover for their upcoming album, Save Rock And Roll. Shot by acclaimed travel and National Geographic photographer Roger Stonehouse (view more of his work here), the photo depicts two young men — one is wearing jeans and smoking a cigarette, while the other is draped in traditional robes. (Fun fact: In the original shot, the young man on the left is actually wearing an AC/DC T-shirt, which only makes us want to hang out with him more.) By displaying differing “punk and monk” cultures on Save Rock And Roll, Fall Out Boy reportedly wanted to represent their album’s juxtaposition of the old and new, which they described in further detail in a blog post.

As they explained:

When we were beginning the journey of making this record, we wanted to find some inspirational images. We came across the punk and monk image on the internet, and it really solidified what we were trying to get across on the record — the idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together. There was something striking about it. Obviously this is an image that means a lot to many people — we felt like we wanted to be part of this conversation. These kids represent the youth, change and irreverence that we hope our record is listened to with. At the end of the day we just want to take the rules and start all over with save rock and roll anyway.

And while we’re all super stoked about Fall Out Boy’s comeback, we’re not sure just yet if they’re going to come through on their title promise. At the very least it looks like they’ll be saving the rock-and-roll album cover art anyway, and that’s no small feat.
