The Parlotones throw a a midnight parade in their “Shake It Up” video.
Cape Town’s favorite alt-rock outfit The Parlotones have won over nearly every audience in the world. They’ve gone multiplatinum, headlined South Africa’s Coca-Cola Dome, performed at the Fifa World Cup, opened for Coldplay, raised a ton of money for environmental organizations like Live Earth and Earth Hour, AND climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the United Nations’ Stop Violence Against Women campaign (good god, guys, think that’s enough on your resume?), but now, after seven studio albums, the boys are ready to climb an entirely new kind of mountain: the United States music industry (metaphor, y’all). Perhaps that’s why The Parlotones felt it necessary to announce their arrival with a parade/tailgating party in their latest video, for “Shake It Up,” the first single off of their forthcoming EP, Remember When…
Watch The Parlotones’ “Shake It Up” video after the jump.
Opening to a scene right out of the evening news, “Cops,” or maybe even “CSI” (insert your law enforcement show of choice here), “Shake It Up” has The Parlotones making QUITE an entrance as they rock out atop a tractor trailer in what looks like a middle-of-the-night parade or very early morning tailgating party. As their tractor trailer moves down the street, the quartet jam out to their Muse-meets-U2-meets-Coldplay pop-rock anthem, leaving no strobe light and smoke machine untouched (this one’s not for the epileptics in the room, just FYI).
When they’re not taking over evening parades (and potentially racking up noise complaints), The Parlotones are currently on tour with Buzz On alums Dinner And A Suit through May, which will culminate in both bands’ EP releases — The Parlotones will release Remember When… and Dinner And A Suit will unveil Too Late in early May. Check out the dates, and look out for The Parlotones AND Dinner And A Suit’s new EP when they drop on May 7!
