New Video: Marina And The Diamonds, ‘Lies’

Marina & The Diamonds gets moody in her "Lies" video.

Marina And The Diamonds has a sad dinner in her “Lies” video.

Marina And The Diamonds‘ Electra Heart album is like the gift that keeps on giving. We’ve already been treated to visuals for album cuts like “Radioactive,” “How To Be A Heartbreaker,” “Primadonna,” and “The State Of Dreaming,” but now the Welsch songstress is back with some melancholy visuals for her Dr. Luke and Diplo-produced record, “Lies.”

Watch Marina And The Diamonds’ “Lies” video after the jump.

In the sparse black-and-white clip, a bare-faced Marina solemnly sings her song, radiating the sadness and longing that inevitably comes with a record titled “Lies.” But Marina doesn’t sit still for long. Soon enough, “Lies” jumps to vibrant color, and Marina’s perched high atop a tower (Rapunzel??) that overlooks a gorgeous backdrop. Finally, Marina descends from her tower to dine alone in the rain, and it basically looks like the saddest meal ever. (Huh?? Who the eff stood this lady up?)

After her meal, Marina breaks every “don’t walk alone at night” rule in the book as she wanders off into a dark and scary forest. (Anyone else get “Snow White And The Huntsman” vibe right there, or was that just us?) We’ve never been ones to scoff at a moody visual (the more “noir” the better), but we’re having a suuuuuper hard time understand why someone would straight-up not show for a meal with Marina. Or a snack. Or even a sip of damn water.
