A good star-crossed, ill-fated lovers movie is nothing without an iconic love song, right? Like remember how hard you cried either into your popcorn or very hard on the inside during “Kissing You,” Des’ree‘s chilling love song that hit like a wrecking ball during Baz Luhrman’s 1996 “Romeo + Juliet”? (Side note: HOW SEXY was that mask at the masquerade ball scene! Ugh.) And “What Is A Youth?” The bizarre but haunting Jacobean-era-goes-’60s minor chord emotional assault that kinda freaked you out during Zeffirelli’s famed 1968 take on “Romeo & Juliet”? And not to call “Twilight” Shakespeare, but when Bella gets bummed during Lykke Li’s “Possibility,” and when they dance to Iron & Wine? #allofthefeelingsever

Now, Julian Fellowes, creator of “Downton Abbey” (speaking of doomed love! LADY MARY! JESUS MARY AND JOSEPH!) is readying the world of romantic hopefuls and tragedy lovers (drama queens, the lot of you!) for his interpretation of “Romeo & Juliet,” directed by Carlo Carlei and starring Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld.

Accordingly, Fellowes’ take on “Romeo & Juliet” is underscored by a brand-new sweeping love song to go with the film — “Till Death Do Us Part” — a moving, poignant ballad, written and performed by 22-year-old singer/songwriter (and “Ellen” guest!) Kait Weston.

If Kait looks familiar, it’s probably because her pop covers have pretty much shut down YouTube — her cover of Cher Lloyd’s “Want U Back” has been viewed an astonishing 3 million times.

And the delicate dirge comes replete with a brand-new video that doesn’t skimp on movie scenes that hint of a love so deep it could only end in tears, daggers, and poison. (Spoiler alert?) Definitely a good way to tide ourselves over until the film’s Oct. 11 release date. (Check out photos of Taylor Swift and Hailee Stienfeld at the “Romeo & Juliet” premiere party, by the way!)

In the Jay Martin-directed video, an ethereal Kait belts her song into the camera as a wind machine perfectly tousles her hair, which is almost as stunning as scenes from the upcoming movie — the famous balcony shot, and an almost-sex moment, which is strategically cut off just as stuff was getting good! (UGH, thanks, guys.)

“Til Death Do Us Part” is basically the biggest “star-crossed”/”forbidden love” music moment since Christina Perri‘s “A Thousand Years” from “Twilight.” And really, this moving ballad couldn’t have dropped at a better time, since, as you might’ve guessed, we’ve been having a LOT of issues waiting for the full version of Christina Aguilera’s “We Remain,” a track off “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack, to drop. How Kait could tell we were in dire need of a dose of “epic love song,” we’ll never know. But we’re ready for a remake, ready for a new love song, and ready for the tears.
