St. Lucia’s “When The Night” sounds like synth and glitter. #OurKindaMusic
Looking to be transported to a dreamy synth-pop wonderland? We could tell. (Is it weird that we could tell? Whatever.) Then check out VH1’s full album stream of When The Night by the Brooklyn-based St. Lucia. Much like St. Lucia, aka, John-Philip Grobler’s, shimmering “Elevate” and the fiercely ’80s-tinged “Too Close,” the disc is a sonic journey through a land of perfectly layered, expertly curated, nostalgia-pop beauty.
In addition to those two tracks, pay special attention to the slow-building opener, “The Night Comes Again.” There’s also the shouty, vaguely choral “Closer Than This,” as well as the bouncy, 8-bit “September.” Oh, and one last thing! We recommend that you kick this one old-school (i.e., listen to it from start to finish). You know, like they did in ye olden days (i.e., the 1980s).
