Lady Gaga, The Killers Release Albums; Fall Out Boy Perform At The TeenNick HALO Awards On Sunday

Welcome to Buzzworthy’s “The Week In Pop,” where we round up new album releases, talk show musical guests, TV performances by your favorite pop stars, and more (so you don’t have to).

This week opens and closes with Lady Gaga, who drops her third studio effort, ARTPOP, today and serves as first-time host and third-time musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” Meanwhile, The Killers celebrate their 10th birthday with Direct Hits, Erasure ushers in the holidays with Snow Globe, and the popular Now series drops its 48th installment of the latest hits.

The week caps off with a celebration of teens making a difference in the world on Sunday night with the fifth annual TeenNick HALO Awards, which will feature a performance by Fall Out Boy and appearances by Queen Latifah and Austin Mahone.

Lady Gaga releases her third studio album, "ARTPOP."

NEW ALBUM RELEASES

+ Lady GagaARTPOP: Gaga described ARTPOP as “a complete and total transportation from pop culture as you know it into an explosion of art fantasy, rage and eros.” The “pop” half of the album’s title is more apparent on “Applause,” “MANiCURE,” and NSFW sex jam “Do What U Want” featuring R. Kelly, though she explores EDM-tipped rock on “Swine” and emotive drama on the artsy-experimental “Aura” and ballad “Dope.” Stream ARTPOP in its entirety via iTunes Radio.

+ The KillersDirect Hits: To mark their 10th anniversary, the Las Vegas band drops a collection of their greatest hits (“Mr. Brightside,” “Somebody Told Me,” and “Runaways” among them) alongside two new songs: “Shot At The Night,” which was recorded with M83‘s Anthony Gonzalesz, and ”Just Another Girl.”

Check out more new album releases, upcoming TV appearances, and performances after the jump.

+ Various ArtistsNow 48: That’s What I Call Music: For Now‘s 48th compilation, Katy Perry (“Roar”) and Lady Gaga (“Applause”) are compiled alongside the likes of Miley Cyrus (“We Can’t Stop”) and Robin Thicke (“Blurred Lines”).

+ ErasureSnow Globe: The ’80s electro dance floor-rulers turn to the holidays for inspiration. Snow Globe features new arrangements on standard songs, such as their atmospheric take on “Silent Night” and the synth-blipped “White Christmas,” not to mention the electro-bliss of originals tracks like “Loving Man” and “There’ll Be No Tomorrow.”
