7 Reasons You Need To Start Obsessing Over The Vamps, Like, NOW

The Vamps are going on tour, and here are 7 reasons why you need to listen to the pop-rock boy band NOW.

The Vamps are comin’ for you, WORLD.

After teasing their loyal army of fans all day on Tuesday with “THE BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT EVERRR,” The Vamps have finally spilled the beans: they’re headlining their very own “Vamps Tour” this fall in the U.K.!!!!

HUGE NEWS, right? Well, wait a sec. If you’re not from The Vamps’ native U.K., you may not be super familiar with the pop-rock four-piece. So, how about we pull a super-mega-reverse Paula Abdul — that’s no steps forward, a million steps back — and get you up to speed on all things Vamps-y.

Why? Um, because chances are you’ll be seeing a whole helluva lot more of these guys — that’s James McVey on lead guitar, Connor Ball on bass, Tristan Evans on drums, Bradley Simpson on lead vocals, and ALL OF THEM on perfect coifs and roguish smiles. Not convinced? Pffft, OK.

1.) Their tunes are catchy as hell!

Take The Vamps’ debut single, “Can We Dance,” for example. It’s got earworm hooks, oh-oh-oh-oh backing vocals that demand you sing along, ridiculously smooth harmonies, an unexpected but appreciated horn section, and an unresolved, singsong-y quality to its melody structure. (Think The Cardigans.)

Oh, and how the hell are you gonna give a track that opens with “I talk a lotta sh** when I’m drinking, baby” the cold shoulder?

2.) Their videos are fun with a capital “AHHHH!”

In “Can We Dance,” the boys wake up after an epic house party covered in puppies, foodstuffs, Silly String, and, um, balls. It’s a lot like Katy Perry’sLast Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” only less no Kenny G. Oh, and they actually clean up after themselves, so PERFECT BOYFRIENDS.

The more free-spirited “Wild Heart,” on the other hand, shows The Vamps hitting what looks to be the American Southwest in their tour van, playing Pied Piper to roadside cuties.

Another good thing about their clips? There are only two official music videos out so far, so you’ll be able to catch up WELL before the coming pandemonium hits.

3.) Coming pandemonium, eh?

This year is shaping up to be pretty damn epic for our boys. Even though their debut album — out this summer — has yet to be released, The Vamps have already received a slew of accolades, including MTV U.K.’s Brand New For 2014. Their competition? A bunch of our other faves like BANKS and Sam Smith, so that should tell you something.

And duh, they’ve got that headlining tour this fall. Before that, The Vamps will also perform as the supporting act on all U.K. arena dates for The Wanted’s “World Of Mouth World Tour” this spring.

And on Monday night, The Vamps rocked the supporting slot so hard during Taylor Swift’sRed Tour” stop at the O2 Arena, that Connor LITERALLY broke his arm.

4.) The Wanted’s Hiatus Left You Wanting More? Problem Solved.

Look, there’s no easy way for us to say this. With The Wanted going on an indefinite hiatus after their tour, your hearts gonna have 5 adorable British man-shaped holes that’ll need filling. (Again, #ew.)

The Vamps are going on tour, and here are 7 reasons why you need to be obsessed with this pop rock boy band.

Obviously, we recommend Tristan, James, Connor, and Bradley for the job. (As for Brit No. 5? Uhhhh, how about MTV Artist To Watch John Newman? Or our dream British boyfriend, Sam Smith? Can’t go wrong with either o’ those blokes. #CollaboPlz)

5.) They know their history.

Anyone who cruises by The Vamps’ YouTube channel will notice that they’ve got a ton of stellar pop covers uploaded in there. Not surprising, considering that’s how they found each other in the first place.

Long story short: A few years ago, Bradley uploaded a bunch of cover videos onto YouTube, James found Bradley, Tristan found Bradlames, and Connor found Tristadlames. Fast-forward a little, and — BAM! — The Vamps are poised for world domination.

Anyway, while we totally think the guys give Miley Cyrus a run for her “MTV Unplugged” money with their cover of the Arctic Monkeys’Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?“, we’ve gotta give it up for their take on Hanson’s iconic ’90s boy-band-that-plays-their-own-instruments anthem, “MMMBop.”

6.) Yet they’re right for the present.

With instrument-driven boy bands like 5 Seconds Of Summer finding huge success — remember who won Buzzworthy’s Fan Favorite Breakthrough Band of 2013? — and One Direction roughing up their heavily polished pop in favor of a more Mumford & Sons-esque sound on Midnight Memories, The Vamps seem to have arrived on the scene at exactly the right time.

Plus, they’ve won Taylor Swift’s favor, and you are never, ever, ever gonna disagree with Princess Tay-Tay, now are you?

7.) And finally…
