MTV Artist To Watch: Meet DJ Martin Garrix, Watch Him Perform ‘Wizard’ Live & Download The Track For Free

Meet MTV Artist To Watch Martin Garrix, watch the Dutch DJ perform 'Wizard' Live, download 'Wizard,' and more.

Say hi to Martin Garrix, probably the most accomplished teenager you’ll meet today.

High-school student by day, international DJ by night — 17-year-old Dutch artist Martin Garrix is basically living the hipper, European version of our own teenage rock-star fantasies right now.

Yet, before the MTV Artist To Watch became the guy who makes you ashamed of your teenage non-accomplishments rising phenom he is today, he was just a little kid, waiting for his gift to hit him. “I had never been interested in electronic music,” he reveals. “Then, I saw Tiësto playing the [2004] Olympics on television. I hadn’t heard that music before… It was the first time I witnessed the beats, tempo, and vibe electronic music gives you. From that point, I was hooked.”

Only a few years after that moment, Martin performed his first live show in Amsterdam in 2010. And in 2012, his unofficial remix of Enrique Iglesias’Tonight (I’m F***in’ You)” had gotten the internet’s attention, which led to a string of notable, official remixes — like Christina Aguilera’sYour Body” for one. (Xtina approves? As if you even needed another reason to get into Martin Garrix.)

But now, with the help of his sparse-yet-powerful, “Beez In The Trap“-gone-primal hit single, “Animals,” Martin’s topping the charts in Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, and Germany all on his own. And, with the anxiously exhilarating “Wizard” with Jay Hardway (which kind of sounds like “Animals” in the middle of a nervous, pit-area breakdown) and a huge North American tour on the horizon, that reign’s sure to continue.

Give both tracks a listen below. Don’t worry — any envy-induced inadequacy you may experience will be immediately danced right out of you.
