Just two nights after the 2009 MTV VMAs, which was like fashion week crammed into a single night (in addition to Lady Gaga's one-woman fashion show) we indulged in some New York Fashion Week craziness at the G-Star Raw Spring 2010 show at Hammerstein Ballroom.

G-Star shows are always big on theatrics -- Benicio del Toro recited Joy Divison at a G-Star show in 2009, and Dennis Hopper's also appeared in a G-Star show.

While this year's show didn't star a celebrity on the catwalk, stars like Lindsay Lohan, Taylor Momsen, Asher Book, Corbin Bleu, Christian Siriano, Eric Balfour, Tyson Beckford, Kat Von D, Gabe Saporta, Kara DioGuardi, Peaches Geldof, Jared Leto and Juliette Lewis surrounded the runway as G-Star presented a very retro-futuro rock-n-resort collection to David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel."

+ Sad news at this hour: DJ AM was found dead in his NYC apartment this afternoon, apparently of a drug overdose. From everything we've heard, he was a really nice guy all around and will be sorely missed. (MTV News)

+ Country music darling Carrie Underwood reminded us all why we like her so much, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of instruments to her high school alma mater. (People)

+ Pop star Miley Cyrus performed her new single "Party In The U.S.A." to a max-capacity crowd at the TODAY show in NYC this morning, holdin' on to those high notes for dear life (but managing to let go of the stripper pole this time around). (E! Online)

+ Weezer's Rivers Cuomo admitted to Rolling Stone this week that their debut single "Undone - The Sweater Song" was a complete rip-off (intentionally or otherwise) of a Metallica song. (Rolling Stone)

+ For those of us longing for the old Mariah Carey and wondering why she's been peddling s%*# for the last few years, lady is BACK with her new cover of Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is." (Neon Limelight)

+ What do you do if you're Lindsay Lohan and a store who loaned you two million dollars worth of jewelry comes a'knockin' for it? You say your safe was STOLEN, of course. HEY! It's a recession!! Gotta be frugal! (The Superficial)

+ Noel Gallagher quit Oasis last night? Via his blog? (NME)

+ Jessica Simpson has landed her first magazine cover, post-breakup with Tony Romo. (Glamour)

+ Hey girl hey! Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester loves to wrap her lips around a foot long! (Skinny Girls, Big Sandwiches)

+ Wanna enter for a chance to win a VIP trip for two to L.A. to see Morningwood at Six Flags Magic Mountain? DO IT NOW! (LogoOnline)

+ Check out this interview Kid Cudi gave recently, talking 'shrooms and being more than just Kanye's little sidekick. (Complex)

+ Up-and-coming MC/pop songstress/crazywoman Amanda Blank is launching a coast-to-coast tour with Matt and Kim to close out the summer and support the launch of her new CD 'I Love You,' with dates from L.A. to D.C. (MySpace)

+ Brit Brit's back to her old tricks again, and by old tricks we mean Lindsay Lohan. The two were spotted partying into the wee morning hours at an L.A. hotspot last night. Come on now, girl -- we're almost rid of Daddy-o. Don't spoil it now!! (Life & Style Weekly)

Actually, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Lindsay Lohan in a Police shirt isn't ironic. Maybe it's actually completely perfect. As perfect as Kid Rock launching his own beer. Or Kevin Federline finally letting himself go to the point where he looks like he ate three of his former selves. Or Madonna getting a gig as the poster girl for Muscle Milk. (Give it two weeks.)

Given her criminal record, I'm assuming Lindsay Lohan Police shirt has little to do with the band and more to do with law enforcement and the LAPD. Although, she hasn't had an arrest warrant out since March 2009 (W2G, Linds), with Lindsay, there are often legal woes looming. Also, she should've been arrested for that Fornarina commercial.

Anyway, if you're into Lindsay's retro-nuevo vintage-style Police shirt, it's by Public Library, and it's $48 at Singer22.com.

+ Whitney Houston, the woman who's been having a comeback for the last 10 years of her life, got a standing ovation at the listening party for her new album (out September 1) at New York's Lincoln Center. (Lifeline Live)

+ Congratulations are in order for Kelis -- not because she's getting divorced from Nas, but because she just had her baby! (E! Online)

+ And in other good news, Britney Spears looks like she's on track to take over the reigns to her personal life. Her daddy's run as her conservator draws to a close at the end of this year and, according to sources, it seems as though he is not going to maintain his firm grip on her life beyond then. (E! Online)

+ Calling all JoBro fans ... what's your favorite soundcheck costume on the tour? This is my personal fave, though I heard that Nick isn't one of the three piggies (it's some road manager or something). I wonder if they make Jordin Sparks (whose album Battlefield is out today, btdubbs -- and p.s. how effing GORGEOUS did Jordin look today on Alexa Chung this morning??) dress up as Little Red Riding Hood? Or what about this doozie? I guess Joe is supposed to be Screech from Saved By The Bell? Oof!(Twitter)

+ Maybe while his bros are soundchecking on stage as the Two Little Pigs, Nick Jonas is rolling around in one of these trying to have some "me" time. God knows it's more privacy than I've got in my NYC apartment. (Perez Hilton)

+ For all the Lindsay Lohan haters, she's having the last laugh: her recent ABC Family straight-to-television movie Labor Pains actually performed tons better than an airing of Harry Potter. Granted, that movie has been out for like, eight years but whatevs. (The Evil Beet)

HEY, Paula Abdul fans. With the fate of Paula's future on American Idol slightly uncertain -- she's leaving! she's staying! She's hot! She's cold! This is starting to feel more and more like a Katy Perry song! -- one thing that's straight-up certain is that Paula just added some pieces of sparkle to her Home Shopping Network "Forever Your Girl" collection of jewelry and accessories.

And while Paula's February 2009 appearance on the Home Shopping Network was, um, pitchy, to say the least, she's going live on again on July 31 with new stuff.

All of Paula Abdul's HSN jewelry is under $100, and God knows it's (arguably) better than spending your money on Scrunchies, Ed Hardy tees, or Lindsay Lohan's Sevin Nyne tanner. However, Paula's jewelry may cause slurring, purring, "knowingness,"  your eyes to reorbit in their head, dancing like there's no tomorrow, and/or the overwhelming urge to grab David Archuleta and squish him, squeeze his head off, and dangle him from your rear-view mirror, and possible Corey Clark drama.

Check out photos of Paula Abdul's new HSN jewelry -- there's a silvery starburst, a cuff that looks like asphalt, and... the very sparkly thing below that I'm uncertain about -- and tell me: Would you wear Paula Abdul's jewelry?

+ Check out more photos of Paula Abdul's HSN jewelry collection after the jump.

+ We hate to say it, but Perez Hilton has a pretty good ear for up-and-coming music, so much so that he's getting his own record label. Yikes. (The Tripwire)

+ FINALLY some good news today... Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have broken up. The kicker is that it was because Tony didn't want to dress up as Ken doll for a "Barbie & Ken"-themed party. Wonder who gets to keep the Dream House?  (Pink Is The New Blog)

+ Like her or not, lady is getting paid: Lauren Conrad just topped the NY Times' Best Seller's List! (StarPulse)

+ It's nice to see all the American Idol kids sticking together in spite of all the anti-gay protesters that are showing up outside their concerts (bashing Adam Lambert). (Popnography)

+ Lady Gaga made history this week, as she is only the third artist EVER to have three songs on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. (Perez Hilton)

+ This weekend, Lindsay Lohan threw herself at 2008 MTV VMA host Russell Brand and surprisingly enough, the self-proclaimed sex addict said "NO!" (The Superficial)

It was either the French, the Afghans, Mario Puzo, or the Quentin Tarantino who said "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Were they right? Who knows? Everything I needed to know I learned from pop culture and music videos, which have taught me that when it comes to getting even, nothing beats the ass-kicking, window-smashing, good old-fashioned REVENGE video. (And leaving a horse head in someone's bed.)

Check out 10 classic videos where artists get mad, get even and get revenge by trashing their ex's place, taping themselves in naughty situations (right, Justin Timberlake?), putting the hurt on someone else's credit cards, or howling like a she-wolf in the middle of the desert like your name was Alanis Morissette. (Exactly like that, actually.)

PUBLIC DISPLAY OF REJECTION

Alanis Morissette -- "You Oughta Know"
Nothing says "woman scorned" like the wrath of Alanis Morissette and all. that. hair. Her 1995 video, "You Oughta Know," quickly became a b+tchfest manifesto for the maligned and scorned the world over. Thinking of getting "exploratory" in a movie theater? Um, yeah. Don't. Also, learning corner: Flea and Dave Navarro played on the original recording!

BREAK STUFF!

Carrie Underwood -- "Before He Cheats"
If you cheat on Carrie Underwood, you've got an even bigger problem than the major hike in car insurance you're about to experience once you discover she's beat the LIVING S+++ out of your truck. In her 2006 "Before He Cheats" video, Carrie Underwood not only takes aim with a baseball bat, but she also BLOWS THINGS UP WITH HER MIND, bringing new meaning to "smash hit." Ever see Carrie the movie? Coincidence? I think not.

Lily Allen -- "Smile"
Crafty Lily Allen recruits a band of local thugs and no-goodniks to mug her ex -- played by EastEnders' Elliott Jordan -- wreck his place, smash his records, and stuff his shirts in the toilet in her 2006 video, "Smile." Also he gets mugged and a horbs case of the Hershey squirts after Lily spikes his coffee with Ex-Lax. Smooth moves all around!

AYO TECHNOLOGY

Justin Timberlake -- "Cry Me A River"
What happens when you cheat on Justin Timberlake? Nothing creepy or anything. Duder just pulls up to your driveway with Timbaland in the car, sneaks into your house when you leave, films himself banging an INCREDIBLY HOT CHICK, and leaves the evidence rolling and ready for you to watch when you step out of the shower. No big deal. (It's extra creepy if you happen to look like Britney Spears. ALSO: Fun fact -- the girl who plays Britney in the video is Lauren Hastings, who dated Shia LaBeouf. She also claimed that Lindsay Lohan stole an $11,000 coat from her.)

Backstreet Boys -- "The Call"
Now pay attention because the Backstreet Boys' 2002 video for "The Call" may confuse people less intelligent than me. In the "The Call" video, one if not ALL of the BSBs are progressively cheating on their girlfriend/s, who MAY or may not have SET UP the guy/s to cheat on them in the first place. Total BSB sting operation! With a girl who may or may not be a transvestite. (Note: that's speculation on my part, but she kinda does look like a drag queen. Which is FINE if she were a tranners, but it'd take the video in a totally different direction.) Anyway, they're all cheating, or it's symbolic cheating or whatever, and the old-school 2002 cell phone (hence the phone sound effects!) becomes THE VESSEL through which the cheating travels. Symbolic BSB girlfriend however PWONES and sets up the whole operation to completely fail, thus flipping the script and using the cell phone and "the call that changed my destiny" as the vehicles that drive the whole sordid affair into the ground. Technology wins, cheaters lose! (Not-so-fun-fact: In 2003, AJ McLean revealed to Oprah that he first tried cocaine the night the "The Call" video was shot.)

MURDER WAS THE CASE

Kanye West -- "Flashing Lights"
Spike Jonze directed Kanye West's 2008 "Flashing Lights" video, which is his most dramatic and definitely his most gruesome to date. While the song and lyrics are haunting, they completely belie the video's drastic measures: Playboy model Rita G shoves Kanye in a car, duct tapes his mouth shut (ahem!), and beats the life out of him with a shovel. All for the leaving the toilet seat up!

+ Singer Kelis (who is seven months preggers) has filed papers in court to try and squeeze some more money out of her ex-husband Nas. Never mind that she has hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry she could sell. eBay it, gurl! For the children! (Bossip)

+ Brooke Hogan has been talking about her mom a lot lately -- and not in a good way! (E! Online)

+ Debunking all those rumors that she is pregnant, Fergie revealed that she put on 17 pounds for a film role with actress Penelope Cruz. (US Magazine)

+ In what seems like a rude-dude move, Katy Perry (real name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson) has sued an Australian designer by the name of Katie Jane Perry. Who do you think has more of a case? (Agent Bedhead)

+ Oh look! There's media darling Lindsay Lohan Tweeting topless pictures of herself. Thanks, Linz! Seeing that just made gayer than I already am, if that were somehow even possible. (Bitten & Bound)

+ Don't go getting your hopes up, Perez Hilton. Adam Lambert is NOT into you! What's that sound? Oh! It's just Perez getting out his claws. (Parade)

Kathleen Hanna, Johanna Fateman and JD Samson are Le Tigre, the art-school/dance-punk offspring of the Riot Grrrl movement. Though they were never quite celebrities, a series of scruffy, chaotic anthems promoted them to a level of fame rarely seen by underground feminist electropunks. How often, after all, do you hear of pretty girls with mustaches having their songs played in cosmetics commercials?!?

Le Tigre remain three of the most visible faces of a politically-motivated art movement that bends musical standards as readily as it does gender. Along with Peaches, The Gossip and others, they have created a musical environment that's more hospitable to edgier artists who aren't as easy to digest as, say, Christina Aguilera.

Well, here it comes, breaking news: It's just been announced that Le Tigre -- who have worked with everyone from Yoko Ono to drag queen Vaginal Davis -- are now in the studio with Christina Aguilera. Get the f--- outta town, right? Right. For her new album, Aguilera has been buzy assembling an A-list of electroclash collaborators, including Goldfrapp, Ladytron and Sia. Big news for a little scene!

Anyway, before their beats start popping up on Disney soundtracks, we thought we oughta share five things you must know about Le Tigre. Check it.

1. LE TIGRE DID NOT BREAK UP!
A recent MySpace bulletin laid wild rumors to rest, and confirmed that the band was not extinct, but "on Sabbatical." While they rest, dig into their permanently frenzied back catalog.

2. Le Tigre Are No Strangers To The Mainstream Spotlight.
Not only have Le Tigre's songs found their way into a smattering of offshore advertisements, they've also been featured on One Tree Hill, The OC and regularly in the official Boston Red Sox radio broadcast!

3. Le Tigre Don't Need Restraining Orders.
Although Le Tigre member JD Samson is a gracefully androgynous club DJ with close-cropped hair and enviable style, she is not in Lindsay Lohan's speed dial. Maybe Xtina will introduce them?

4. Le Tigre Are Multi-Talented.
When Johanna Fateman isn't beating on her Gibson, she frequently contributes writing to Art Forum magazine, as a professional art critic. She and JD are also part of a new Brooklyn DJ group called MEN.

5. Le Tigre Married Well.
Kathleen Hanna, who was originally responsible for pulling Le Tigre together, has been married to Beastie Boy Ad-Rock for three years! Like Ad-Rock, all three members of Le Tigre are enthusiastic activists.

Keep an eye out for their upcoming collab with Christina Aguilera. Can you even imagine?? Pretty cool! What do you think it'll sound like? Will Xtina do another fashion 180? Watch Le Tigre's "New Kicks" after the jump for a better idea of what to expect.
