The 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards are happening now in New York City -- a mash-up of music's famous faces, and on-point performances. And we're liveblogging it all on the MTV Buzzworthy blog. Stay here for the backstage, birdseye, and middle-of-it-all 2009 mtvU Woodies report. And watch the 2009 mtvU Woodies Friday, December 4, at 10 p.m. ET on mtvU, MTV, MTV2, and Palladia.

10:51pm -- We're off to the after party, see ya, it's been a blast! For more Woodies gossip, party reports and general madness check in with Buzzworthy tomorrow or check out highlights from the show on the Woodies site right now. We have tons of photos, red-carpet looks, rehearsal performances (some of which you saw here earlier today) and more. PEACE!

10:23pm -- Matt & Kim can't go anywhere without throngs of admirers following them. They're pretty much the Brangelina of the Woodies. Except they don't own several kids and possibly hate each other.

10:14pm --  is swaying along to "Treat Me Like Your Mother." Jack White looks like a cross between a pissed-off vampire and The Crow. In a way that works, though.

10:09pm -- is taking the Woodies to the church of bad news on all-white instruments. Allison Mosshart's on a square guitar, and I'm pretty sure it's got the devil inside.

10:04pm --Mary-Louise Parker drops an eff-bomb while intro-ing the Dead Weather! RAWK!!!!!!

10:02pm -- and Kim (of Matt & Kim) are exchanging phone numbers on the floor, David Cross is catching up with Matt Pinfield, and and , present, and they're each dressed totally future-forward. They're dropping Woodie of the Year.

9:51pm -- Jamie Tworkowski wins the Good Woodie for To Write Love On Her Arms, and dedicates the award to people battling depression and drug addiction.

9:43pm -- drops some knowledge on the Clipse. The vibe is straight-up old-school -- no tricks, no autotune, no stunts. Just hype hip-hop. And , bossin' behind shades, centerstage. Appropriately the crowd is dancing on barstools.

9:37pm -- The men of are launching tiny burgers into each other's mouths and ordering extra whiskey shots. A saucer-eyed, autotuned Janelle Monae intros the Clipse as the crowd yells out "You're beautiful!"

9:33pm -- Matt & Kim win Video Of The Year, and as their friends in the crowd toss their drink about 40 feet in the air, M&K bypass the stairs, crawl on top of the crowd, and rush the stage. They accept the award, thank pretty much everyone in one swoop, and Kim takes another dive off the stage.

9:27pm -- Death Cab just performed meet "Meet Me On The Equinox" to a mesmerized crowd but pretty much got the U2 reception when they did "Sound of Settling"

9:23pm -- MTV alumni Jon Norris and Matt Pinfield are catching up on the floor.

9:18pm -- David Cross has crown shoved into his pocket, and he's telling a Tom Cruise Scientology joke, for those of you who don't know what Dianetics is.

9:12pm -- Overheard, P.O.S telling someone "I just hope I looked cool," after someone congratulated him on his performance.

9:10pm -- P.O.S.just rapped over live flipcup percussion.

9:06pm -- Asher Roth gives out the Best Performing Woodie to Green Day. They're not here to accept so Asher stagedives instead.

9:04pm -- I'm down on the floor where all of the talent's seated, not at tables but at dozens of narrow glittery bars. There's a 1:2 ratio of kegs to celeb bar, and Oh The Story has their own personal shot waiter. Wisely, one member of Oh The Story cut himself off and ordered a diet coke.

9:00pm -- A production assistant carrying the next Woodie just rushed the award backstage.

8:59pm -- David Cross and the Clipse are having a heart-to-heart. Intense!

8:57pm -- Just walked by David Cross, who's dressed like he's going to a Superbowl party.

8:55pm --  gives out the Best Music On Campus Woodie -- an award she promises will lead to getting laid more -- to an ecstatic Hotel Of The Laughing Tree whose friends are freaking out on the floor behind me.

8:46pm -- Amber Tamblyn intros via Twitter. Passion Pit is clearly a crowd favorite -- we've got people on top of people's shoulders, air drumming (like the Rush scene in "I Love You, Man," but far far cooler...)

8:42pm -- 3Oh3! is presenting the Left Field Woodie... DRESSED AS LADY GAGA AT THE VMAS!!!! The red dress and the white bird's nest mask thing! Reference was made to soiled panties! :O  wins it and makes a Woodie joke and drops a KRS-One lyric!!!

8:28pm -- Never Shout Never has the shortest acceptance speech ever: "Power to the people!" Talks least, says most!

8:26pm -- Zooey Deschanel, darling as always in a darling dress, cracked a joke about not taking off her clothes as they swept up Matt & Kim's castoffs. She's presenting the Breaking Woodie Award, which goes to Never Shout Never!

8:23pm -- Pete Wentz, red solo cup in hand, is going rogue. Give that guy a mic and he'll take a mile. He just cracked a swine flu joke and dropped the "douchebag" bomb as he kicked off the 2009 Woodies!

8:21pm -- How'd do you get to college parties? BIKE there! Matt & Kim just biked here from Brooklyn straight into the lobby of the Woodies. They brought some friends who aren't just singing backup, they're stripping down to their skivvies for lessons learned. Undies party!!! Extra points to Kim -- she jumped up onto the drumkit and WALKED ON TOP of the crowd!!!!

8:15pm -- Jack White and the didn't walk the red carpet -- they basically ran it. Jack White needs a role in "Eclipse." Dude is whiter than a natural-born Cullen.

8:10pm -- Never Shout Never's Christofer Drew wins Best Dressed at the Woodies. Hands down. That Mickey Mouse sweater deserves its own award.

8:03pm -- Woah... just ran down the red carpet! No sign of ...

8:01pm -- What's a college party without flipcup! The mtvU Woodies have their very own flipcup game going on at one of the bars. , just took aim. Isn't that how you get swine flu?

6:58pm -- The red carpet is under way, and I just caught up with breaking band Sparks The Rescue, who informed me that votes aliens are the new vampires.

Today is Veterans Day, and we thought we'd honor those serving (and those who have served) in the armed forces by highlighting some videos that feature characters in the services. And tonight, watch Real World: Brooklyn cast member Ryan Conklin document his second tour of duty on Real World Presents: Return to Duty at 9pm ET.

My Chemical Romance, "The Ghost Of You"

This video, taken from My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, was directed by (500) Days Of Summer's Marc Webb and features Gerard Way and Co. playing as a WWII-era USO band at a dance. Very Memphis Belle.

Green Day, "Wake Me Up When September Comes"

This Green Day power ballad from American Idiot was directed by music video giant Samuel Bayer (the man responsible for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"). In it, Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) and Evan Rachel Wood's love story is violently interrupted and brought tragically to an end when he joins the Army to fight in Iraq.

Angels & Airwaves, "The War"

Never the type of band to shy away from the sweeping, epic or grandiose, Angels & Airwaves "The War" isn't really about a war. Or at least not one that's happened yet. That being said, while the video for "The War," directed by Shilo, takes place in a dystopian, Children-of-Men-esque future and features lots of surveillance and spaceships, Tom DeLonge's lyrics do make oblique reference to WWII's D-Day. A&A will actually be featuring a Civil War plot-line in their feature film, Love (you can watch the trailer here).

Drowning Pool, "Solider"

Drowning Pool's documentary style video for "Soldiers" (which was directed by Lizzie Palmer) is perhaps the most emotionally effective of the lot, if only because it uses authentic images of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The video also served as a call to action for a very worthwhile cause (support for returning soldiers).

3 Doors Down, 'Citizen Soldier'

3 Doors Down's video for "Citizen Soldier" was from their 2007 self-titled album, but also served as an homage/advertisement for the National Guard, with the video depicting the Guard's history and paying tribute to those who have served.

As Phil Collins is prone to say, I can feel it coming in the air tonight. The leaves are falling, the college football is being played, the hayrides are being taken; it's mtvU Woodie Awards season, pumpkins.

In honor of mtvU's annual award show, honoring the music the rocked college campuses the hardest, we thought we'd get some of these nominees used to the fierce competition they will face when the show will airs on MTV, MTV2, mtvU and Palladia on Friday, December 4, at 10 pm.

Today we're pitting the D.C. rapper (and this year's MTV Video Music Awards in-house entertainer) Wale against Brooklyn dream-poppers Passion Pit. Both acts are nominated for the Breaking Woodie Award.

Arbitrarily (and vaguely), let's say we're judging on the basis of dopeness. It's something you can't define, but you know it when you see it.

The Wale video has swagger. A swooping opening shot, a Lady Gaga feature, a dope beat, and it was most people's introduction to the lovable Chocolate City emcee.

Passion Pit is all indie innovation and art. And it's gorgeous. A beautiful, lush tune full of swelling keyboards with a unique video, givinng an impressionistic snapshot of a night in the life of a young lady; tearing that snapshot up in the process.

The winner? Well the nice part is, it's up to you! Let us know who you like in the comments, and go vote for your favorite at the mtvu Woodie site (where you can vote in any of the categories being awarded at the show!).

As a full-blown Tokio Hotel fan as well as a style savant, I'm almost as excited about Bill Kaulitz's new hair and makeup looks as I am about the release of Tokio Hotel's new album, Humanoid, which comes out Tuesday, October 6 in the U.S.

And, since I'm always willing to put myself in the hot seat -- especially if it means bringing joy to the MTV Buzzworthy Blog's diehard, devoted Tokio Hotel fans -- I asked the wonderful, talented Keri Blair, who's a senior artist at MAC (and whose JOB it is to fly around the WORLD prettying up models during international fashion shows and shoots) to give us a step-by-step tutorial and show us how to recreate Bill Kaulitz's "Automatic" makeup look.

The phenomenally talented Keri, using her arsenal of beauty tips and tricks, recreated Bill Kaulitz's new look, and the results? Well I'm a realistic girl. My nose is, charitably, Roman, and looks nothing like the Kaulitz twins' much-regaled perfect nose. In my estimation, I looked a bit more like a hybrid of Gene Simmons' secret lovechild and this remote-control-operated Beauty And The Beast costume that I saw at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (but that thing's SO cyberpunk too!) than the lost Kaulitz sister. Also, my eyes stung a little, but I totally took one for Team Tokio AND I realized how much Bill goes through to keep his look fresh and fun. And, while Bill does vamp it up (and we love that about him), he makes it look so easy. Ugh. So unfairsies. So while it was fun to Be Bill for a hot second, we all know there can only ever be one Bill Kaulitz.

But, if you love to play dress-up, check out me (that top left photo is to assert that in general, I do look like a normal human, lest you were wondering or wondering) and Keri, and see how you can create Bill Kaulitz's incredibly robotic, hypnotic, totally "Humanoid" new makeup look.

(And HUGE thanks, of course, to everyone at MAC and to Dolores at Self Salon in Williamsburg as well as the fantastic Cody Ross of Priestess NYC and his little dog too!)

The Brooklyn band Amazing Baby, tells you everything you need to know about them in 150 words while on location at the East River Amphitheater in New York City.  The guys talk, condensed Twitter style, about getting to know one another, being in it for the long haul, and moving forward with their sound.

Made up (somewhat) of former co-workers at ringtone company, Amazing Baby makes dancey, psychedelic pop-rock that would sound just fine in a shuffled playlist with the likes of MGMT, Animal Collective, Chairlift and classics like Pink Floyd and Love. Their album, Rewild, is in stores now.

Watch Amazing Baby's new MTV interview and their "Head Dress" video.

Where The Wild Things Are, Spike Jonze's long-delayed live-action adaptation of the seminal Maurice Sendak 1963 children's book, comes out October 16, and people are brokering ticket deals, already calling in sick from work, and generally sharting themselves with excitement.

Personally, while I love Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, I'm absolutely terrified by the animated monsters and the thought of their enormous faces on the big screen. And by the idea of sleeping together in a real pile.

That said, I fully support Urban Outfitters' selection of Where The Wild Things Are apparel and accessories. Check out the t-shirts, tunics, and even hairy leggings inspired by the movie. All of the Where The Wild Things Are shirts, tunics, dresses, and leggings are under $60 (the tunics and hairy leggings designed by Brooklyn designer Mary Meyer are especially cool since they don't SCREAM "PROMOTIONAL TEE"), the wall art is $68.

Or, if you're just really into spending, drop $610 for Opening Ceremony's Max Suit.

After the jump, watch the Where The Wild Things Are trailer and Arcade Fire perform "Wake Up."

Great. Just what Brooklyn needs more of, right? A pop-punk garagey all-girl band? Except while Care Bears on Fire have pre-teen marketability on their side, their music is what sells. And if you're wondering just how old these girls are, know that they've been at this for four years, so, in the wise words of gone-too-soon Aaliyah (never forget!), age ain't nothin' but number for them.

And while they're quick to discuss sparkles and stuffed animals (um, they ARE named after one), Care Bears On Fire keep their musical idols and tastes super sophisticated: Jack White, Patti Smith and Kim Gordon? Well, well, well. I don't even know who my idol was at that age... Britney, probably? A. J. McLean?

Watch Izzy, Sophie and Jenna's Buzzworthy "The Five" interview to find out what's really important things to CBOF: Monchichis, mascara, and raising praying mantises... the "fiercest" of which is named Michelle Obama. (What else would you name a truly fierce praying mantis?)

PS -- Don't know what a Monchichi is?? OMG!

San Diego five-piece Lights On just wrapped up a mini tour in Brooklyn -- their first visit as a group -- and just released the five-song EP, Waiting For The Heart To Beat. And if you ONLY have time for one track, it'd be "John and Anne," which is easily download-able with a little power of positive Googling (or just follow that link to Lights On's MySpace). With lyrics "Dear John," I figure the track would be breakup-centric, but "John and Anne" is more a plea for salvation.

Lights On's sound: You could almost compare them to The Stars; the package comes off quite retro, with dulled vocals that evocative of a grainy recording. There's also a little of The Raveonettes in there, but way toned down -- like someone grabbed the clanky-electronic-cacophony dial and turned it to medium-low. And there's a little of that Peter, Bjorn, And John a-haunting in there too. My only issue: HOW can I keep straight Lights, Hit The Lights, Francis And The Lights, and Lights On? Thankfully I have room -- and now love -- enough for all.

You've seen/memorized Cobra Starship's West Side Story VMA promo video. Now go behind the scenes and underground -- deep, deep beneath Brooklyn -- at the New York City Transit Musem where Cobra Starship shot their 2009 MTV VMA promo spots, and watch Gabe Saporta and Ryland Blackinton discuss the Cobra-created choreography that got trumped by Wade Robson's pro moves, plus Lyrca, unitards, and more stuff "people 'in the biz'" of talking about dance know about. And stay tuned for more VMA promo spots starring the 2009 MTV VMA presenters and performers.

Never seen West Side Story? Seriously? Shame on you. But I'll wait to chastise you until after you've watched this brand-new MTV on-air spot that Cobra Starship filmed for the 2009 MTV VMAs. The new video features Cobra Starship -- and Leighton Meester -- reenacting West Side Story's "Tonight," a cinematic and theatrical behemoth.

The Cobra Starship VMA video was choreographed by Wade Robson (let that sink in for a minute...) and filmed at the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn. The museum is completely underground, and the promo was shot in a vintage New York City subway car, which is why it looks a little like something out of Beat Street. My only complaint: Not enough Ryland. Apparently Courtney Love was on set too. (Let THAT sink in...)

Watch the Cobra Starship 2009 VMA promo video, and stay tuned for more videos featuring VMA performers and presenters.

+ See more photos of Cobra Starship from the set of their 2009 VMA video shoot after the jump.
