The 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards are just around the corner. If you haven't booked your ticket to Berlin, well, you're probably screwed. But fortunately Buzzworthy's gonna give you a first-hand look at all of the international stars, performers and performances, and fan-picked awards on Thursday, November 5.

Here's what you need to know about the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

+ Katy Perry's hosting! Fun and fashion are expected... if not DEMANDED!

+ Rock royalty Foo Fighters and Green Day, hip-hop kingpin Jay-Z, the lycanthropic Shakira, and the gorgeous Leona Lewis will all perform too.

+ U2 will hold a special musical performance in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate.

I know the point of this photo is that Kylie Minogue symbolically turned on the lights of the Empire State Building today in honor of the third annual Coty-DKMS Linked Against Leukemia Gala. (DKMS is the world’s largest non-profit bone marrow donor center.) But can we just discuss for a second how unbelievably radiant girlfriend looks?

Kylie Minogue -- who's touring the States this summer (!!!) -- is 40 years old, which is more than TWO Miley Cyruses and half a Frankie Jonas, and she's more stunning than famous females half her age. Madonna: you're officially on notice.

Nite Jewel is an L.A. lady who plays disco songs with the music and the energy turned all the way down. The resulting half-yawned clap-track slacker jams have the sound and feel of summer without any of the heat.

It's like, you know how nice the mall is when it's hot out? It's like this alternate universe because it totally dismantles all the rules of the outside world, replacing oppressive humidity with comfortable air conditioning and stressed out summer street noise with dulcet tones and ventilator hum.

Nite Jewel's songs are kinda like that. Disorienting in the way that they totally reject all of the mainstream rules to the point that they're not immediately recognizable as music. They're all homemade -- cobbled together on junky keyboards and 4-track recorders. But they're disorienting in this way that's totally, undeniably pleasant. And I don't mean pleasant like, "OK." I mean pleasant like, "really good." Like a really mellow Kylie Minogue.

Nite Jewel's far-out ways are rooted in a Los Angeles art collective called Human Ear. Home to fellow experimentalists like Ariel Pink and Geneva Jacuzzi, Human Ear is single-handedly making L.A. a more interesting place to live. Tokio Hotel is up for a Bravo Otto Award in Deutschland! First, if you're NOT a TH fan, you're probably all, WTF's a Bravo Award? No, it's not the same as the network that beams The Real Housewives of Orange County and Top Chef into your home. This Bravo is a German teen magazine that's been around for over 50 years (it originally featured Elvis on the cover, to give you an idea how old it is), and it's spun off into a variety of pop-culture mags, a TV show, and the Bravo Awards, which Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, and David Hasselhoff have all received.

Tokio Hotel performed at the "50 Jahre Bravo" show ("50 Years of Bravo") in October 2006 and received  Otto awards in 2006, 2007, and 2008. And Tokio Hotel was recently nominated for a 2009 Otto for Best Superband, next to a host of other bands, including Jonas Brothers, Pussycat Dolls (a Tokio Hotel fave!), and Fall Out Boy. Not too shabby, right?

Acknowledging that Best Superband is a superlatively AWESOME category, one far more interesting than, say, Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media, and one that an American awards show REALLY needs to adopt (you listening, VMAs peoples?) -- tell me this: Which award, real or otherwise -- should Tokio Hotel should be nominated for next?

People like to think that working at MTV is totally anything-goes -- the halls are filled with girls dressed like Katy Perry or lounging around in bikinis like they stepped out of a Shwayze video, and the dudes all look like either Pharrell or Trace Cyrus. Not exactly (though we have seen the Shwayze dudes around here from time to time.)

We do often wear jeans and ironic t-shirts and stuff, but we also have standards. Like -- for starters -- not coming to work dressed as Osama Bin Laden.

Just ask Russell Brand. He got fired from his VJ gig at MTV UK when he showed up, high out of his mind on heroin, dressed as the evil bearded one on September 12, 2001. No one -- including Kylie Minogue, who he was set to interview on the MTV UK equivalent of TRL -- was amused. He was fired quickly thereafter. But, life's about second chances, right? And MTV hired the now-sober comic back to the host the 2008 VMAs.

Lady Gaga claims to be from New York, but the likeliest story is that she's from the same planet that spawned Lady Miss Kier (Google her), Kylie Minogue, and Princess Superstar. She also could've been hatched in a cool, dark corner of a sequin factory or a pinball machine warehouse.

What we do know for sure: the otherworldly electro-pop dance star signed to Akon's KonLive label, collaborated with Colby O'Donis and New Kids on the Block, parties with Perez Hilton, has a jones for Queen, and has written hits for the Pussycat Dolls. Now she's attempting to cover the world in sequins with her upcoming album, The Fame, due out later this summer.

Well, she at least showed up to last night's 2008 Brit Awards. And at this point, showing up is half the battle. She didn't walk away with any awards, but she did perform two songs -- "Love Is a Losing Game" and "Valerie" -- with Mark Ronson, who picked up an award for Best Male Solo Artist (an award second in importance only to the unofficial MTV Buzzworthy Obsession of the Year award), but unfortunately he did not strip on stage to celebrate his win. (Boo!) Instead, he accepted the award by saying "I've never felt so British or so male before in my life."
