In case you missed it, Leighton Meester stepped out of her Gossip Girl open-toed strappy Mary Janes and onto the stage of It's On With Alexa Chung today for a somewhat early-Madonna-meets-"Vogue" live performance of her new single, "Somebody To Love."

What do you think of Leighton's live performance? Watch it below and sound off in the comments.

Britney Spears is known for some positively legendary MTV performances -- her first-ever VMAs in 1999, featuring her belly-baring performance of "Baby... One More Time" with *NSYNC. Britney's "Satisfaction" performance at the 2000 VMAs, where she did a striptease followed by a sexed-up version "Oops ... I Did It Again." Her 2001 VMA "Slave 4 U" performance, featuring a live snake (watch it below). The infamous Madonna-Christina Aguilera kiss at the 2003 VMAs, and, of course, the wince-inducing performance at the 2007 VMAs in Las Vegas, which were, admittedly, no one's greatest moment, but paved the way for Britney's brilliant comeback at the 2008 VMAs.

But, one often overlooked Britney Spears performance is from the 1999 MTV Europe Music Awards, where she performed a "Smooth Criminal"-inspired "Baby... One More Time" medley that featured tap dancing, sounded more Christina than Britney and felt like Backstreet Boys' "Everybody (Backstreet's Back") video, and, anachronistically, like Chris Brown's "Wall To Wall" video.

Watch Britney's performance from the 1999 MTV Europe Music Awards, and stay tuned to Buzzworthy for lots more from tomorrow's 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin!

The 2009 MTV VMAs were exactly one month ago, and by now you've watched Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" performance, sat in awe of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" performance and Pink's high-flying trapeze act, squirmed uncomfortably over Lady Gaga's big, bloody "Paparazzi" performance, had your face rocked by Green Day's "East Jesus Nowhere," and worshiped at the altar of Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind" (with Alicia Keys and that unexpected Lil Mama drama) more times than there are Kanye interruption memes. And you know all there is to know about the making of Janet Jackson's breathtaking tribute to Michael Jackson.

But there are still a few things you might not know about the 2009 MTV VMAs. Like...

+ How a shocked Taylor Swift got from Radio City to the New York City train for her performance.

+ How Madonna slipped into a VMA rehearsal undetected DURING LUNCH!

+ How Pink's performance of "Sober" required not just her amazing acrobatics but some amazing camerawork.

+ Who took Jay-Z's place before the show.

+ How Green Day turned fire into fans...

And more!

Watch "What You Didn't Know" to get an insider's look at Green Day's and Pink's VMA performances:

And after the jump, find out more about Madonna's speech, Russell Brand's comedy club workshop, and Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind" performance.

It's always sort of sweet when people in couples start mirroring one another's affectations and habits. And while Katy Perry and Russell Brand have only just become semi-official, Katy Perry is already starting to sound like Russell Brand.

Katy Perry got the chance to interview German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (or, Uncle Karl, as we lovingly refer to him) during her time haunting around Paris' Fashion Week (spending most of her time as Thelma to Rihanna's Louise).

The video, courtesy of Elle Magazine, features a nervous-looking Perry bravely playing inquisitor to the iconic designer. Things are going well enough until -- COR! BLIMEY! -- Perry starts talking like a charming Dickensian chimney sweep! (Or, kinda like Madonna!) The resemblance to her new beau's accent is, uh, striking to say the least. At least she didn't rock the Muppet dress, that really would've clashed with her new drawl.

+ Watch Katy Perry interview Karl Lagerfeld (and channel Madonna!).

What's cuter than those New York City "Sweet Millions" lotto ads with the adorable baby animals? Actually, well, nothing. But what's ALMOST as cute as that is Katy Perry in her Jean-Charles de Castelbajac -- the Pop Art and Muppets-as-muse designer who made Madonna's famous teddy bear jacket -- Muppet dress at the designer's Fashion Week show in Paris.

And while Katy Perry went goth at the Vivienne Westwood show (look the part!) and accompanied Rihanna to the Jean-Paul Gaultier show this past weekend, Katy Perry sat next to Sliimy at Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's show. You know what they say -- Goth today, Muppety tomorrow. (It's a French saying.)

Comme Des Garçons is the Japanese fashion house helmed by the eccentric, elusive, and exulted Rei Kawakubo, who's been doing freak fashions à la Lady Gaga since before Lady Gaga was eating a salad on MTV's Boiling Points. Fashiony types who know what's up -- the Commes Des Garçons for H&M collabo was an all-out feeding frenzy, and Marc Jacobs himself is a fan of the label -- and celebs like Alexa Chung, Drake (who've both worn the "Play" cardigan), and Katie Holmes are all fans of the brand.

During Comme Des Garçons' Fall/ Winter 2009 fashion show this past March, models walked the runway in black shoes with feet drawn on them. How post-modern AND redundant! Now, what you see on the runway isn't always what ends up produced and in stores, but, lucky for you shoes-with-feet-on-them fans, Comme Des Garcons' foot shoes are available at Paris' fashion-as-religion boutique Colette for the washed and unwashed masses. They're $840, and they're especially helpful if you're one of those people who sometimes puts the wrong shoe on the wrong foot. (And I'm not saying I am.)

+ Would you wear Comme Des Garçons's foot shoes?

Before she was a freaky fashion icon, fake-feuding with Madonna on Saturday Night Live, or launching ill-fated tours with Kanye West, Lady Gaga, like many cash-strapped New Yorkers, would do just about anything for $100. Including be on MTV's Boiling Points, which was an MTV hidden camera reality show that was kind of like Punk'd in that the point was to annoy people, except without the assistance of a perpetually-cracking-up Ashton Kutcher. If the unknowing subjects -- in this case, Lady Gaga -- didn't lose their s++t, they'd get $100.

See what happened when a Boiling Points waitress came between a virtually unrecognizable brunette Lady Gaga (she's far easier to recognize when covered in blood or walking with a Bedazzled cane) and her lunch in Gaga's unknowing MTV debut. (Spoiler: Gaga doesn't get the hundred bucks. Oh well. She ended up with "The Fame." Get it? See what I did there?)

This has been a crappy week to be both a music fan and a ticketholder. In the past week alone:

+ Kanye West and Lady Gaga's "Fame Tour" was canceled, causing anyone who knows, loves, and/or hates Kanye to wonder why: Kanye needs time for Kanye? Poor ticket sales? (I solidly CANNOT BELIEVE people wouldn't want to see Lady Gaga in concert after she practically disemboweled herself at the VMAs.)

+ Miley Cyrus came down with strep and canceled tonight's scheduled concert in Omaha. Boo! (But feel better, gurl!)

+ Then Paramore had to postpone their L.A. show yesterday because Haley Williams pulled her voice. Wah!

+ And, I'm not even kidding, The All-American Rejects had to cancel their scheduled this shows this weekend because poor Tyson Ritter's got a bum leg. Ugh!

Okay, first of all, I hope everyone feels better (and stops interrupting Taylor Swift or whatever). But all of these concert cancellations JUST SO HAPPENED to occur the same week as the International Olympic Committee decided which city would host the 2016 Summer Olympics. And if you read between the lines, you'll discover the REAL reason why Gaga and Kanye and Miley and Paramore and The All-American Rejects' shows were canceled! Don't believe the hype! It's all just a big conspiracy theory!

OBVIOUSLY Lady Gaga, Kanye, Miley Cyrus, Paramore, and The All-American Rejects are trying out for the Space Olympics... which have ALSO BEEN canceled. No idea what I'm talking about?

Problem: You're an ENORMOUS Lady Gaga fan, and you wanna parlay your Gaga fandom into your fashion, but polio crutches seem slightly ill-advised, neck braces are SOOO cumbersome, the Dame Edna look's been done, you already know the Lady Gaga Lady Liberty t-shirt and Lady Gaga leather jacket. You need to wear pants (it's getting cold out! I don't care how pristine your ass is, please wear pants), and you'll get kicked out of school if you go totally see-through. And naked's out of the question. (Again, cold.) Quelle conundrum!

Solution: The Lady Gaga dress. Sure it's conservative by Lady Gaga standards, but it gets the job done.

If you're game, love (get it? Because Gaga has a song called "LoveGame"?  = WORD PLAY!), the Lady Gaga dress is $51.06 at Asos.com.

Not advised: This NSFW/ life Lady Gaga-inspired mesh body suit. Ack.

Intriguing but drafty!

If you only splurge on ONE unnecessary item this season, you MUST get yourself into a pair of studded heels. My favorites are Rock & Republic's stud-and-spike embellished "Nika" leather heels. Kristen Stewart wore them with her Valentino dress to the VMAs, and Kara DioGuardi's been seen in the punk-inspired heels too.

The Rock & Republic "Nika" heels are $295 and come in grey, like Kristen Stewart's, fuchsia, and black, like their gorgeous black studded Christian Loubotin Pigalle 100 predecessors Blake Lively and Ciara have been seen in. (And was The City's Erin Kaplan was rocking a pair of TO-DIE-FOR studded heels on last night's premiere too!)

Check out more studded heels, from super 'spensy ones to studded heels that'll only set you back $22!

Daniblack's "Rebel" heels come in black, but the white patents are so Bowie! They're just $101 at Zappos.com. Marc By Marc Jacobs' black-and-white cone heels are super mod. They're $149.99 at Piperlime.com. Get studded all over for just $22.50 at WetSeal.com. I'm not making that up!

Boutique 9's black leather "Darcy" d'Orsay has a classic '80s punk-chic flair. They're $160 at Piperlime.com. French Connection's gold-studded black Jalayen booties are SOOOOO Rihanna. And those bad boy Marc Fischer pumps are just $89 at Macy's. (Look for more in Macy's stores soon.)

And if you insist on paying top dollar for your studded heels, go right ahead, Mademoiselle Moneybags. Christian Louboutin's Pigalle 100 studded heels don't mess. They're $995 at Net-a-Porter.com. Those mesh studded Jimmy Choos make me weak in the knees. They're soooo Madonna in "Borderline," and they're soooo $825 at BergdorfGoodman.com. Last but not least, Giuseppe Zanotti's studded, cap-toe, red-heeled stilettos are everything dragaliciously wonderful about shoes in one shoe. They're $680 at Colette.fr.
