about this blog

  1. Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.

The 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards are just around the corner. If you haven't booked your ticket to Berlin, well, you're probably screwed. But fortunately Buzzworthy's gonna give you a first-hand look at all of the international stars, performers and performances, and fan-picked awards on Thursday, November 5.

Here's what you need to know about the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin.

+ Katy Perry's hosting! Fun and fashion are expected... if not DEMANDED!

+ Rock royalty Foo Fighters and Green Day, hip-hop kingpin Jay-Z, the lycanthropic Shakira, and the gorgeous Leona Lewis will all perform too.

+ ... And Hometown heroes TOKIO HOTEL will perform! LIVE. Digest that.

+ U2 will hold a special musical performance in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate.

+ Pete Wentz will be hosting the online show with exclusive backstage access.

+ And THE JONAS BROTHERS AND BACKSTREET BOYS are presenting! It's like boy bands' greatest hits go to Germany!

+ More presenters include the darling Miranda Cosgrove, and the empirically bananas-hot Bar Refaeli, Joss Stone, and more.

It's like the VMAs but with a more impressive passport.

Stay tuned to the MTV Buzzworthy Blog for more 2009 EMA info, AND to stream the entire show as it happens, live in Berlin.

You already know that Drew Seeley not only wrote some of the songs on the High School Musical soundtrack (and earned an Emmy nomination for "Getcha Head In The Game") but was also Zac Efron's singing voice (not in a ventriloquist way though). You also know that Drew Seeley starred with Selena Gomez in Another Cinderella Story, which is where "New Classic" comes in! And no, "New Classic" isn't about sneakers. It's about Selena.

So, here are five things I love about Drew Seeley's "New Classic" video:

1.) Drew references "PYT," which is an AMAZING old-school Michael Jackson song! KNOW this!

2.) Once the chorus kicks in, you can almost sing Usher's "Yeah!" (yeah!) on top of it, which is cool.

3.) Drew kind of looks like a young Robbie Williams. Well, doesn't he?

4.) Selena uses public transportation in the video. SO enviro-friendly and green, like her friend Miley!

5.) The "New Classic" video looks like it cost next to nothing to make but instead focuses on Drew's vocal chops instead of over-the-top effects. And HELLO! We're in a hardcore RECESSION, people. Everyone should take a tip from Drew Seeley and shoot on a shoestring. And by "everyone," I mean Kanye West.

Watch Drew in action in "New Classic."

What do you get when you combine Lego robot men with upbeat piano pop-rock and semi-depressing lyrics? That would be "Spiraling," the first video off the third album from no-longer-electric-guitarless Brit trio, Keane.

The three-man group (frontman/Will Forte lookalike Tom Chaplin, drummer Richard Hughes and piano-player Tim Rice-Oxley) has come a long way since 1997 -- the year they formed -- and 2004 -- the year their debut LP, Hopes and Fears, became the second biggest-selling record in the U.K. and landed them a job opening for U2.

And whether you've been on board since the beginning or you only know them for their monster 2006 single, "Is It Any Wonder?" you'll be surprised (pleasantly, even) with the newly revamped/synthesized sound of their latest album, Perfect Symmetry.

So watch Keane's trancelike laser show (oooh, pretty colors!) admire their Robbie Williams + Oasis feel, and agree to disagree with their fatalistic/just-got-dumped view of relationships ("When we fall in love / we're just falling in love with ourselves.")
