Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.
You can imagine the flutter of hearts felt across London when Hammers fans saw Perry decked out in a claret and blue bustier, thinking to themselves, "Cor blimey, wish my missus would get dolled up like that!" (that was my cockney impersonation, btw).
Well, now your missus (or any other lass) can get their paws on Perry's West Ham lingerie. The club, responding to, "huge demand," have contracted the original designer, Siobhan Dillon, to make a limited run of the outfit, running a measly £300.
West Ham are currently mired in a fight for their Barclay's Premier League survival (that means they're not doing well at playing soccer), so I guess they need all the support they can get (pun, sadly, intended).
Paramore has always had a cool-kids-next-door charm, and in this new interview with Elle.com, they show us that they're still the same Twilight-reading, punk-rock-loving, R&B-adoring regular Joes (and one Jane) that we know and love.
My favorite part of Paramore's chat with Elle.com covers their love of R&B and their roots as a funk cover band:
"Hayley: Yeah, we did Rufus and Chaka Khan, “Tell Me Something Good,” and a lot of Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, the Doobie Brothers. The intro to our show was always Average White Band’s “Pick Up the Pieces.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Paramore talk about being amped to see New Moon opening night (and Hayley's affection for Dakota Fanning). They also show that they keep their ears to the Nashville punk rock streets, big upping bands like Paper Route and The Swellers.
You can catch Paramore (in something of a New Moon mode) in the below clip from the MTV special "Ulalume: Howling At New Moon" (which airs on Friday, October 30 at 9 PM ET). Until then, watch this brand-new clip of Paramore performing "Decode" live from the Ulalume Festival.
And, with just one breakthrough debut album, One Of The Boys, under her belt (in this case, probably a belted bustier onesie), you'll get a brand-new look at Katy Perry when herMTV Unplugged performance airs on November 16. And on November 17, she'll release MTV Unplugged: Katy Perry, a CD/DVD set with a jazzy, cabaret-style take on "I Kissed a Girl," as well as her smash hits, "Waking Up In Vegas," "Thinking of You." The DVD will also feature an unreleased original song, "Brick by Brick," and a cover of the Fountains of Wayne's "Hackensack."
November 17 is more than a month away, and it's a pretty unfair amount of time to wait, so check out this inside look at Katy Perry's MTV Unplugged performance, and get a sneak peek at her songs and what she calls her "Stevie Nicks-meets-fairy" concert look.
But there are still a few things you might not know about the 2009 MTV VMAs. Like...
+ How a shocked Taylor Swift got from Radio City to the New York City train for her performance.
+ How Madonna slipped into a VMA rehearsal undetected DURING LUNCH!
+ How Pink's performance of "Sober" required not just her amazing acrobatics but some amazing camerawork.
+ Who took Jay-Z's place before the show.
+ How Green Day turned fire into fans...
And more!
Watch "What You Didn't Know" to get an insider's look at Green Day's and Pink's VMA performances:
And after the jump, find out more about Madonna's speech, Russell Brand's comedy club workshop, and Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind" performance. Read more...
It's not exactly a thoroughly fact-checked and professionally reported piece in the New York Times, but it'll do! According to that bastion of truth and wisdom that is Hello Magazine, Russell Brand and Katy Perry are in love. We've been monitoring this situation like it was stolen uranium or American Idol voting over here.
First there were rumors (stemming from Russell Brand's onstage flirtations with the "Hot N Cold" gal) then there were Tweets, and now there are photos of Katy and Russell... sitting NEAR PRINCE at the John Galliano show in Paris yesterday.
Seems like things are moving pretty quickly for these crazy kids. Seems like it was just yesterday (it was last month) that this was just an innocent bit of sweet talking on the part of Russell. Then, before you could forget Sarah Marshall, he's got Katy tweeting from Thailand and getting photographed coming out of his London home! I'd love to hear any ideas you folks have for a Brangelina-style nickname for the couple in the comments. Put your thinking caps on!
It's always sort of sweet when people in couples start mirroring one another's affectations and habits. And while Katy Perry and Russell Brand have only just become semi-official, Katy Perry is already starting to sound like Russell Brand.
The video, courtesy of Elle Magazine, features a nervous-looking Perry bravely playing inquisitor to the iconic designer. Things are going well enough until -- COR! BLIMEY! -- Perry starts talking like a charming Dickensian chimney sweep! (Or, kinda like Madonna!) The resemblance to her new beau's accent is, uh, striking to say the least. At least she didn't rock the Muppet dress, that really would've clashed with her new drawl.
Despite a blossoming love affair with Russell Brand, Katy Perry has been seen being all Elvira/I-Have-A-Cure-Disintegration-poster-hanging-on-the-wall-of-my-soul at the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris on October 4.
Real talk: It's working. Katy Perry might have blown up with a look that resembled a piece of watermelon Bubble-Yum come to life, all greens and pinks, and fruit-as-sex metaphors and whatnot. But she's been rolling through Paris, usually accompanied by Rihanna, like some kind of vampire/Blade Runner robot (or the lost female member of Tokio Hotel?) and it's A. GOOD. LOOK. Wonder if this means Katy's follow up to One Of The Boys is gonna be all doom and gloom and synths? Yes, please?
What'd you do this weekend? Oh, watched movies on the couch in your pajama bottoms? (As in, what I did this weekend?) That's great. Well Rihanna pretty much poned Paris Fashion Week in a tuxedo jacket, super on-trend thigh-high boots and no pants at the Vivienne Westwood on Friday, bondage gear at the Jean-Paul Gaultier show on Saturday, and on Sunday Rihanna and Katy Perry, who just got back from Thailand with Russell Brand, hit the Karl Lagerfeld show together, where Rihanna finally pulled a very un-Lady Gaga move and put some pants on. Still, two words: DAMN. GINA. Rihanna's safety goggles and leather dress, however, not so much.
For all the boys out there wondering why things just don't go their way with the ladies, just take note of Russell Brand*. Want to impress a girl? You don't have to be a sensitive, considerate human being; you don't have to buy her a nice, thoughtful gift. Heck, you don't even have to put a ring on it! All you have to do is make lewd comments from the stage while hosting a globally televised awards show, suggesting that you are readily available for a bit of the no-pants-dance.
Russell Brand, who's made no secret of his affection for Katy Perry during his stint hosting this year's VMAs -- he told the VMAs that he liked what he looked up the hole in Katy Perry's trousers -- has apparently gotten his girl. According to the Daily Mail, Brand and Perry just spent a romantic week in Thailand, getting to know one a little bit better while spending some time on the beach. And while Katy didn't exactly come out and name names, she more or less confirmed the union on Twitter, claiming, "After a week in magical Thailand I'm ready 2 face the real world again. Been schooled on Morrissey, Oscar Wilde & Peter Sellers... inspired." This led Perez Hilton, sort of a one-man C.S.I. for celeb-love trysts to conclude it must be on between the American rocker and the Brit funnyman, since Wilde, Morrissey and Sellers are a holy trinity to Brand.
Mission accomplished, Russell!
*This is sarcasm. While Russell Brand is an extremely amusing celebrity and probably an incredible person to hang out with we cannot, in any way, suggest mimicking his pick-up game unless you want to spend a night in central booking for harassment.
+ Watch Katy Perry rock Russell Brand at the 2009 VMAs.
The 2009 VMAs were packed with OMG moments, some intentional -- Janet Jackson's tribute to Michael Jackson, Beyonce's "Single Ladies" army, Lady Gaga's fake death -- some not -- Kanye's Taylor Swift hijack. But there were lots of VMA moments you may've missed.
Check out 10 moments from the 2009 VMAs that you might've missed.
4.) Jennifer Lopez's face-to-face encounter with her ex! Cris Judd was one of the dancers in Janet's Michael Jackson tribute, and Jennifer Lopez was sitting right in front of the stage.
