Unless you've been living in a fox hole, you're prolly fully aware that both Kanye West and 50 Cent are releasing their next albums on the same day: September 11 (eek!) And while 50 ain't exactly known for being humble, he also hasn't talked too much smack about Kanye -- not nearly as much as Kanye's been talking about him. Of course, Kanye isn't exactly Mr. Modesty either, but we're surprised we haven't heard as much trash talkin' from 50. Maybe he's been too busy fighting off those pesky little Ciara rumors… or just too busy kickin' it with Ciara herself! (Couldja blame him?)

Anyway, Kanye told the host of a British talk show last week, "Please, 50, don't retire once my album sells and beats your album." But that was also after he said he wouldn't be upset if he were No. 2 to 50's No. 1 on the charts, and also after 50 freaked out (rightfully so) when his new material leaked online, claimed his album would beat Kanye's and then made the WTF assertion that comparing him to Kanye would be like comparing him to Michael Jackson. Uh…okay.

A few late-day quickies:

+ A hilarious school-daze photo of a "pre-hab" Amy Winehouse, via TheModernAge.org.

+ ZacEfronPleaseStopTanning.Blogspot.com -- The URL alone is funny enough.

+ Did Rihanna melt that "Ice Box" where Omarion's heart used to be? And are Bow Wow and Rev Run's daughter and Run's House star Angela Simmons a couple? The guys answer the question... sorta... here.

And though Angela's been linked to Chris Brown, we found plenty of photographic evidence of Angela and Bow right here and here. And check out Angela hold her own as a small-screen star as the online love interest in Bow Wow's "Shortie Like Mine" video.

vma07_281×211.jpg Errrywhere we go lately, errrrybody keeps asking us if we can get them tickets to the VMAs. From the coffee stand guy on 44th Street to our shameless succubus friends. We'd bring all of you lovelies if we could, but unfortunately it's just not that easy, and you probably wouldn't all fit in our hotel room. (Some of you would DEFINITELY have to sleep on the floor.)

But, there IS one way though that you can go, and that's through the magic of WINNING! Not that you're not already all winners, but you can be an OFFICIAL winner if you win a trip for two to the VMAs, three nights at a Vegas hotel and more off-the-wall prizes like a shopping trip, plus the best prize of all: cold, hard cash.

Find out about all of the VMA contests and enter right here, but hurry, this shiz ends soon, holmes!

next.jpgHoly hipster. This Is Next is a Mack truck of a mixtape. VICE Records and MTV2 have come together like Voltron and put together one hell of a collection of the biggest hits from rock's left field. Seriously, we're talking Hummer-sized hits. The lineup reads like the guest list at an after party of a fantasy Glastonbury-meets-Intonation festival we wish someone would hurry up and organize already: Bloc Party, The Hold Steady, The Shins, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cat Power, Spoon, Sonic Youth and more. (Oh yeah, and the pretend festival would magically be free.)

And while these artists are both totally of-the-now, you can't help but listen and think, "Self, when I am old, grey and saggy will this be the definitive sound of my youth?" Will this album be just as significant as an artifact of our young lives as it will be a current Saturday night soundtrack? As everyone's favorite polar pixie Bjork said "possibly maybe."

Anyway, your new favorite mixtape hits shelves tomorrow, but those of you lacking in patience can stream the whole thing RIGHT NOW, only on The Leak. And check out videos by the "Next" artists on this episode of "Subterranean."

gym_class_heros.jpgMkay, serious VMA update, folks. Unfortunately we had to say "cheerio!" to Best New Artist nominee Lily Allen's appearance and performance at the VMAs due to Prez Jorge and the U.S. Gubment. Ms. Allen had her work visa repo'ed and she had to cancel tour dates in addition to her VMA appointments. Boo! But… and not that she could ever be replaced, coincidentally we've got more artists on the performance bill! Gym Class Heroes (also a Best New Artist nom), Lil Wayne, Female Artist of the Year nominee Nelly Furtado, Common, Monster Single of the Year nominee T-Pain, Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo, whose "Smiley Faces" video is nominated for Best Editing, and Australian pop singer Daniel Merriweather will all be doin' it live.

We love all of the aforementioned artists, but we've got a serious crush on Gym Class Heroes, and we don't care who the hell knows. And while there isn't a Best Live Performance award, we're pretty sure Gym Class would have it on lockdown, since they've got Vegas under their proverbial studded belts -- their latest video, "Clothes Off," was shot there.

Check out the super self-referential video -- they're playing their own song, "Viva La White Girl," in the opening shot and watching their own "Cupid's Chokehold" video. And in true Decaydance style, the video's packed with cameos, including Pete Wentz as a slots-playing Elvis, checking out Travis McCoy's butt and members of Vegas' own Panic! At The Disco as dancing, poker-playing furries. Watch the video below… oh, and just so you know: Gym Class is also prepping a Hall & Oates mash-up album to be released around the new year. Like we needed yet another reason to love them.

rodrigo_y_gabriel.jpgThey're acoustic guitar geniuses, they're huge in Dublin and they love them some Metallica. And those are just a few of the reasons why we love Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero, best known as Rodrigo y Gabriela.

You probably wouldn't guess just by looking at 'em -- the alt-folk-looking Mexican metalheads appear more Death Cab For Cutie than Megadeth. But they're hugely inspired by the aforementioned, plus Slayer and Testament and frequently cover Led Zeppelin and, of course, Metallica.

The couple, who first started playing music together in a thrash band in Mexico City, got their break in Ireland, after performing on the streets broke, penniless and with a then-severely limited knowledge of English.

True to their genre-defying universal magnetism, they attracted Dave Matthews, who signed them to his label, ATO. They've shared bills with acts as diverse as soft rock kingpin John Mayer, British art-pop band Muse and British garage MC The Streets. They've rocked Letterman, played tastemaker TV show Later with Jools Holland, where they were voted best act of the night, and had their most recent self-titled album produced by the legendary John Leckie, who's tooled albums by everyone from John Lennon and George Harrison at Abbey Road Studios to Radiohead. They don't play flamenco, yet they're not gypsy. They don't have lyrics, yet they don't improvise. Their rhythmic music is fast and furious, outrageously energetic, epic and explosive and breaks through any and all language barriers. And that's why they're MTV's Artist Of The Week.

Watch exclusive live performance footage, videos and more, and whether you've been a die-hard R&G fan since their days busking on the streets of Barcelona or are a recent convert, tell us what you think.

So, have we talked enough Timbaland? We don't think so. He's nominated for two VMAs -- Most Earth-Shattering Collaboration for bringing "Sexy Back" with Justin (who we're seeing tonight and losing our s--- over) and Monster Single Of The Year for his late-comer hit, "The Way I Are," which also happens to be the latest video we're obsessed with. The video is super slick, yet the song isn't as flashy as most Tim tracks. It's just a stripped-down, laid back track with an absolutely hypnotic beat. But despite the song's straightforwardness, he's got plenty of back up.

heidi.jpgWe'd be lying if we said that we, like half of the Innernet, weren't also devouring that Heidi Montag single that's been going around. Yes, Mrs. Pratt-to-be is apparently working not just on unraveling the "mysterious" former-friend drama, but she's also toiling away at her music career. The Hills and ex-Lauren Conrad-BFF dropped a single called "Body Language" the other day on On-Air With Ryan Seacrest." Her voice actually ISN'T that bad …for club music. But Spencer's Federline-esque rap… um… well, we'll let you be the judge.

* Listen to Heidi's track here.

* And if you missed the premiere of The Hills, you can catch up on the first episode here. (Spoiler alert: everyone hates everyone, except for us, because we <3 Bobby Justin/ Justin Bobby! -- who we're not totally convinced isn't actually the same person as Criss Angel, BTW, who we've heard is maybe dating Britney! Perfect couple!)

UPDATE: Spencer told People sometime yesterday that the track was not one Heidi wanted people to hear. "We did it as a joke," Pratt says. "It's not her single at all. It was never meant to be heard by anyone but us. Over my dead body would I rap on Heidi's first single. Heidi is so upset because this was not the first sound she wanted people to hear from her."

cartel.jpg Remember when Cartel locked themselves in a bubble way back in June? And recorded an album? Yeah? Well that was no instance of reality TV smoke and mirrors -- they actually recorded an album, and we actually have it. Right here. For you to listen to.

It's Cartel's second full-length album, and perhaps they were so burnt out from living in a glass (actually fiberglass and steel but whatever) dwelling for 20 days that they just skimped on the album title, because it's self titled. You've prolly already heard "Lose It," the first single and the first song they recorded in the bubble. Check out the video below -- the consensus around here is that Will is cuter than all cuteness combined. Then preview the entire album a week before it's in stores right here.

Wow. Paramore has only been the MTV Artist Of The Week for not even like two days now and already we've received pure love for putting the band on air, pure vitriol for comparing Hayley to Avril (dudes, chill: their voices ARE similar; think "I'm With You", not "Sk8tr Boi," okay?), plenty of mixed messages for comparing them to early No Doubt (Not couture Gwen! Think "Spiderwebs," people -- can you not imagine Hayley wailing to that?) and some indirect marriage proposals for Hayley. And a few for Josh too. We'll make sure they get those.

In more Paramore news, they were just in the dirty Jersey last week, where they made a guest appearance on fellow Warped Tourmates' New Found Glory's new video, "Kiss Me," off their upcoming compilation cover album, From The Screen To Your Stereo 2, the follow-up album to their 2000 EP. It's out September 18. With both bands in the video, how could it be anything but awesome?

Check out photos from the shoot, including your girl Hayley giving out some high-fives, here. And you're welcome.
