Think George Michael's nothing more than a blast from the past? Think again. With last night's American Idol cameo, the Brit powerhouse proved he still has what it takes to shake his derriere on national television. And while many of you were probably seeing the former Wham! frontman for the very first time, others remember a simpler time, a time when acid-washed denim prevailed and skintight man-pants were considered the epitome of sexiness.

With smash hits like "I Want Your Sex," "Freedom 90" and "Faith," Michael proved it possible to build an entire career around a smug wink and taut posterior. So travel back in time with us, won't you, to the year 1987, as we take a nostalgic look back at the campy black-and-white video that paired high-pitched vocals with awkward crotch-level gyrations. And get ready to forget everything you know about Beyonce. This guy not only invented the concept of bootyliciousness -- he elevated it to an art form.

+ Bonus fact: Did you know that Wham!'s breakup (which resulted from Michael's decision to go solo) was the real-life inspiration for the storyline in the Hugh Grant flick Music & Lyrics? If you haven't seen the film's faux music video, "Pop! Goes My Heart," watch it right here.

Per the gospel according to Kid Rock, nothing says summer quite like "sipping whiskey out the bottle" and "singing 'Sweet Home Alabama.'" And since his new video, "All Summer Long," takes us way way back to the year 1989 -- though not as far back as the Beach Boys, who wrote the song of the same name back in 1964 -- we get to see Kid's ideal summer (essentially a trashier version of Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69") reenacted by a more-Fabio'ed version of his 17-year-old self.

And what's the only thing better than watching two underage peroxide blonds get soft-core by a campfire? Listening to Kid Rock whimsically reflect on simpler times with lyrics like: "We didn't have no Internet/ but man I never will forget/ the way the moonlight shined upon her hair..."

And now, thanks to Kid Rock's new video, neither will we.

(Miley Cyrus photo credit: Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair)

A few weeks ago, Miley Cyrus traumatized fans (and, more importantly, parents) by posing almost-nude on the cover of Vanity Fair. Then, just last week, she found herself in the midst of a brand-new controversy: L.A.-based pop-punk band Lustra accused Cyrus of plagiarizing her song "Rock Star" from their hit single "Scotty Doesn't Know," a catchy cult favorite that catapulted the foursome to fame after it was featured prominently in the otherwise forgettable 2004 comedy, Eurotrip.

And while Lustra is said to be considering legal action against Cyrus, they've already waged war outside the courtroom by battling the pint-sized pop tart the only way they know how: dissing her on the Internet.

Think you've got a good ear for song snatching? Listen to both songs on Lustra's MySpace, and tell us if you think Lustra has a case against The Cyrus Corp. And see what one outspoken fan has to say in her video response. (We must say, her production skills are on point!)

Gnarls Barkley's newest video, "Going On," is a complete and total departure from their last video, "Run," which featured enough moiré action to give you a headache at best or, at worst, epilepsy.

"Going On," directed by Wendy Morgan, does not feature Justin Timberlake or even Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse, who only makes an appearance in the form of posters on the wall in the opening shot.

Instead, a group of Jamaicans (note: they might also be from Williamsburg) hot step their way to a vague dimension-shifting situation reminiscent of Being John Malkovich, with undertones of TV on the Radio.

Watch it below, and relive Gnarls' MTV Artist of the Week videos here.

If there were a Buzzworthy lifetime achievement award for Most Consistently Excellent R&B Performer, Usher would win it, hands down. That smooth-as-silk voice, fresh hats, heroic pectoral isolations, don't-try-'em-unless-you're-a-pro dance moves... it's like the boy was genetically predetermined to perform. Which is why we've been impatiently counting down the minutes until his next album drops.

Fortunately, the MTV powers that be are giving us a sneak peak of Usher's Here I Stand -- the follow-up to his nine-times-platinum album, Confessions -- a week before it hits stores.

Our choice cut is track 10 -- "Best Thing," featuring Jay-Z -- but maybe you have your own fave? Just be ready to get hooked. We haven't been this entertained since God invented the DVR.

Listen to Usher's new album, Here I Stand, only on "The Leak," and watch Usher perform "Love In This Club" live at The Hills finale party.

You may remember Cherish from their video "Killah," which impressively juxtaposed scenes from Step Up 2 the Streets with shots of the R&B sister act parading around in baggy gym shorts and knee socks.

The Atlanta-based En Vogue-esque girl group (can't you just envision a perfect cover of "Something He Can Feel"?) is back with a new album, The Truth, and they're showing off their sensitive, more sophisticated side in their new video, "Amnesia."

Three reasons we think you should check it out:

1) It's catchy! In that horribly depressing, soul-crushing sort of way.
2) This time the tube socks are replaced with super-glam LBDs.
3) Nothing says "heartbreak" quite like four gorgeous girls slinking up against a wall while giving us their very best "sad face." See, kids? Revenge isn't just sweet. It can also be crazy hot!
