A "new" version of Britney Spears' now-famously cheeky video "I Wanna Go" video turned up online today, and, like the giddy, tittering little schoolgirls we are when it comes to ANYthing Britney, we certainly got a leeeeittle overexcited.

The video -- which is basically the original, just chopped up into smaller, bite-size portions and given a sort of sepia-n-sunshine-toned treatment -- features the "DJ Frank E & Alex Dreamz Remix," reportedly one of two official remixes to be released this summer.

Even though the more club-centric, bass-infused mix itself has been on SoundCloud for a while, as a Britney EXPERT, I think this new videp is the PERFECT companion piece to our Britney-filled summer of 2011.

It's no secret that R&B songstress JoJo is used to doing things big, and her latest single is no exception. Last week, an unfinished version of the brand-new track "Other Chick" leaked, so she fired back by posting the song on her own website (and also on her label's official SoundCloud page) in its final form. It's the first single from her upcoming album, Jumping Trains.

It's easy to forget that JoJo was only 12 in 2003 when she was first signed to Blackground Records. A year later, she dropped her hit single "Leave (Get Out)," and, at 13, became the youngest solo artist to have a No. 1 single in America. In 2004, she was nominated for a Best New Artist VMA -- the youngest artist ever. But what's not hard to remember is her powerhouse vocal ability and wiser-than-her-years delivery.

It sounds like, with her move from East Coast to West Coast (Boston to L.A.) and her shift from her former label Blackground to Interscope, she's found an edgier, more electronic, more epic sound. This track has a decidedly different sound even than the songs she released on last year's mixtape "Can't Take That Away From Me."  It starts off very minimally, with the analog blips and beeps you'd hear in a Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry or Ke$ha song. But as the verse inches towards the chorus, it grows into the huge, synth-heavy force that SORT of reminds me of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" ("I'm in the corn-ah, watchin' you kiss hah, ohhhhhh" -- you know that part where you get chills? That's the one).

And that's when JoJo hits you in the face with this insane chorus that is one part Amerie's "One Thing" and maybe a little Solange "I Decided Pt 1" blended in. You expect JoJo to run up and down the scale in perfect form like only she (and about three other women) can. But what's unexpected are the huge Beyoncé-style synths and drums, plus the '70s-sounding "oo-AH oo-AHs" that are layered in the background that turn the song from negative to positive in a microsecond -- instantly transforming JoJo from wah-wah loser girlfriend to the empowered "other chick" who's suddenly had this moment of self-discovery. It's EPIC and BEAUTIFUL and is going to be blasting out of your radio this summer -- just you wait. And remember, Travis from Buzzworthy told you so.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG so you know how you're just sitting at your desk on a Friday, probably nursing some sort of pounding headache/cottonmouth situation from whatever dumb thing you did last night because your best friend somehow made you believe that "Thursday is the new Friday," and you're staring out the window watching cruise ships glide down the Hudson and undoubtedly off to some balmy locale that only serves drinks with little plastic monkeys hanging off the sides and they're only named with words that make verbs out of weather-related adjectivesala "Raspberry Breezer," "Watermelon Cooler," "Mango Cherry Chiller"? But anyway, who am i kidding? My window stares into random hotel rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and my best shot at excitement on a Friday is hoping someone is watching VH1 in their hotel room and praying that they just happen to be airing a marathon of "I Love The '90's". Wait. Woah. Did I just inject WAY too much of myself into this Britney update?

THISISNOTTHEPOINTPEOPLE!  The POINT is, you're having a boring, ordinary, "I-don't-wanna-work-today" kind of Friday and then along comes a little morsel of a news item! A GEM just glistening among all the emails and pop-up dancing mortgage lady ads! And that news is...

Britney Spears' record label just confirmed that her next single is NOT "Big Fat Bass" as previously rumored, but instead it's the UBER-catchy "I Wanna Go" This is the stuff pop dreams are made of and a complete throwback to Britney's earlier hits like "Lucky" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy." I'm talking PURE. POP. BLISS; the kind that can only come from a pop factory that churns out hit after hit, ruled by a Swedish Willy Wonka a.k.a Max Martin.

Can you just IMAGINE what the video is going to look like? It's been confirmed that Chris Marrs Piliero is on board to direct. He's the same guy who directed Ke$ha's "Blow" video (starring ultra-hunk James Van Der Beek) and who also directed The Black Keys' "Tighten Up" (which consequently won the 2010 MTV VMA for Breakthrough Video). Chris told MTV News that he likes violence -- if you've seen either of the two videos I just mentioned, you'll know what I mean. So I'm VERY INTRIGUED to see what he'll have up his sleeve for my Brit girl, since she's already been down the ass-kicking path in "Hold It Against Me" -- whose high-heeled fight scene spawned one of my favorite Twitter hashtags of all time (#clickclickclick).

Okay. Now pick up your Justin Bieber inhaler if you're still out of breath, take a puff, and enjoy the TORTUROUS wait for her "I Wanna Go" video. I wanna go there RIGHT. NOW.

By now, you've undoubtedly heard the amazingly power ballady and accidentally epic Lady Gaga track "The Edge Of Glory," which also means you've already channeled your inner Kelly McGillis with us. Now, I know that the song's about her late grandfather, and I'm in no way trying to make light of that. But there are SO many allusions and references and SAX parts that I do have to talk about that. Because "The Edge Of Glory" is one of those songs whose whole is way greater than the sum of its parts. So grab your huge remote control, pause Teen Witch for a second and get off your Swatch phone (because you KNOW you're on the phone AND watching a movie at the same time -- DUH). We're deep-diving into the bag of Wild 'N Mild Fritos and deconstructing the song to find all of the '80s and '90s monster tracks Gaga's new song alludes to that all equal one big, huge song that could have rolled over the closing credits of Thelma & Louise instead of that "Thunderbird" instrumental thingie that Hans Zimmer dreamed up. So many little musical gems, little monsters. Here goes!

Celine Dion, "To Love You More": All right, so first and foremost you canNOT listen to "The Edge Of Glory" without hearing Celine Dion's "To Love You More." This song represents the best of '90s power ballads: soaring vocals, power belting, a duet with a VIOLIN??? Are you KIDDING me??  Celine is the O.G. alien, right? There is no way anyone who hits those high notes while pounding her chest and making scary faces could be human. Also, listen to the Tony Moran remix -- think Whitney Houston Thunderpuss (yes, THUNDERpuss) remixes from the same era. You will hear what I mean.

Pat Benatar, "We Belong": When "The Edge Of Glory" starts out, you almost hear a little Pat Benatar "We Belong" in there, sweardahGOD. That thumping bass line? It's a classic trick that propels the song forward, makes it sound so urgent, so... EPIC!

Boy Meets Girl, "Waiting For A Star To Fall": There are tons of examples of sax solos in the '80s and 90's, and even some sax solos done only on synthesizers (hayyy alliteration). But Boy Meets Girl's "Waiting For A Star To Fall" is your ultimate reference point for the proverbial, obligatory '80s sax solo. Skip to 2:37 and drink in the amazingness.

Steve Winwood, "Valerie": OK, there is no doubt that Mother Monster reminisced with a few Steve Winwood songs before she recorded "The Edge Of Glory." But "Valerie" is so VERY (to quote my favorite '80s movie, Heathers). It has an AMAZING synth solo -- funny how it's also around 2:40. Soo good..

Roxette, "Dangerous": Ooh boy. Swedish rock-pop band Roxette was one of the definitive bands of the late '80s and early '90s. I never really knew anyone who bought their music, but if one of their songs came on the radio, everyone knew every word. The accent, the tight pants, the red lips, the sexy bleach-blonde hair... it all works SO WELL together. But the main takeaway from "Dangerous" is Marie Fredriksson's (she actually had a name, and it wasn't Roxette) gravelly sweet voice.

So there you have it. Some of my favorite '80s and '90s references I hear in Lady Gaga's pop-rock spiked sugar bomb explosion that is "The Edge Of Glory." What do you think of the song and its references? Amiright?

Apologies in advance for the bad food analogy I'm about to make. Clearly I'm bitter about the free bag of generic popcorn I just inhaled for lunch (with "insert brand name of prescription drug you can't pronounce" printed on the bag). Anyway, you could kind of liken the Florida music scene to a Cracker Barrel menu. Don't get me wrong: I am ALL for some Hickory Smoked Honey Glazed Ham (Backstreet Boys) and cheese grits (Matchbox Twenty).  And who knows? Maybe I want to wash down my chicken 'n dumplings (2 Live Crew) with some box wine (Dashboard Confessional).  But Miami synth-rock/electro-pop act Awesome New Republic seems to have just the right amount of pop amazingness without sounding trite (think the electronic bits and driving beats of Miike Snow blended with the psychedelic sweetness of Passion Pit).

Earlier this year, Awesome New Republic -- John Hancock, Brian Robertson, and newly-added-for-tour Jorge Rubiera -- had a Perez Hilton pop moment when P'rezzers posted a Leighton Meester cover of their track "Birthday." Side note: Leighton seems to have a knack for hanging with the boys (not that way, pervtown), as evidenced by this summer's smash Cobra Starship collabo "Good Girls Go Bad" to the literally just-released video "Somebody To Love," featuring Robin Thicke.

Now, with their brand-new album Hearts, just released on October 27th, and their song "Magic City" (from the previously released EP Rational Geographic Vol. 1) appropriately featured in tomorrow's Miami-bound episode of The City, Awesome New Republic just might be the best band you've never heard of. You're welcome.

But talk about a huge slap in a dirty dog's face: Shania is engaged to the guy whose wife cheated on him with Shania's hubster! To quote my favorite movie-turned-TV-show, Heathers, "Lick it up, baby.
