’80s reunions are pretty much the new neon — first there’s the announcement of the re-emancipation of NKOTB. And now — drop those bell-bottom Brady Bunch trousers and double-knit reversible slacks, because it’s looking more likely that a long-awaited revival of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince may (finally) be a reality.
A DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince reunion has been rumored for years — decades, even. But with MC-turned-megastar the Fresh Prince’s movie, Hancock, nearing its July 2008 release date, might DJ Jazzy Jeff be dusting off his 1s and 2s to join Will for a “summertime” revival?
No tour dates have been announced, but we’ll have our Adidas and Jams at the ready, just in case.
Watch the pioneering, classic, and endearingly low-budge video, “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” (And peep the sweet Porsche “car phone!”) The single won them the first-ever Best Rap Performance Grammy in 1989, but Will Smith and Jeff didn’t attend the Grammys that year. See why in a vintage Yo! MTV Raps clip.

The Innernetz say Fergie’s got herself a new gig. After she hit the red carpet at the Grammys in a conservative (for Fergs) lump-tacular yellow Calvin Klein gown (spurring rumors that she was hiding a baby bump, a rumor quickly squashed by her madre), it was recently announced that she’ll soon be joining Eva Mendes as the new celebrity face of Calvin Klein.
So, in addition to all those references to Candie’s, MAC, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, True Religion, Seven and DSquared references, we expect plenty of Calvin Klein shout-outs on Fergie’s next album. Until then, watch “Clumsy,” and enjoy a pick-up game of product placement Bingo!

“Actress” Bai Ling’s recent arrest — no, not for showing up to the Grammys dressed like a slutty leprechaun but for “picking up” some celeb rags and a pack of batteries via ye olde five-finger discount at LAX airport — inspired this blast-from-the-past video: Jane’s Addiction’s old-school ode to shoplifting, “Been Caught Stealing.”

According to Digitalspy, Amy Winehouse, who picked up five Grammys this past Sunday, is glad to be off crack. Which makes more than one of us. Also relieved is her brother (far left in the photo below, taken the night of the Grammys), who spoke about Amy’s addiction to UK newspaper The Sun, saying, “It was hard to take in that the barely communicative shell in front of us was my own flesh and blood.”

The Sun is also reporting that Amy could do the next Bond theme if she stays clean. That’d be nice and all, but here’s an even better incentive to stay off drugs: not dying.
Check out Amy’s “Back to Black” video (because we, unlike Amy, personally need a brief hiatus from “Rehab.”)

For the love of Bret Michaels… WHAT is John Mayer ingesting to keep him looking THIS good? We don’t even care that he sorta looks like he and Fergie probably share bronzing lotion. The smoldering singer-songwriter rolled into the Grammys on Sunday looking like the Eighth World Wonder. That night, America went to bed, but not before praying they’d either wake up either with him or looking like him. Seriously, this totally forgives his curly hair phase.

Let’s talk about Grammy hair for a second, shall we? Not even Fantasia’s two-tone skunk style concerned us as much as Kelis’ and Mark Ronson’s dueling Little Dutch Boy ‘dos, which suggest that they perhaps patronize the same hair stylist. (Resisting… overwhelming… urge… to make … lame Stevie Wonder joke). Or they’re really into No Country For Old Men. Or this guy.

We’ve been so distracted by Britney and Amy and the new Panic at the Disco video that we didn’t realize that Fantasia, Jesse McCartney and Chris Brown desperately needed our attention. Well, now they’ve got it, leaving us to ask … Why would Fantasia want to look like a 40-year-old truck driver? Why did Jesse McCartney do this to his hair? And, we love him dearly, but WTF was Chris Brown thinking when he dressed up like a ringmaster and headed to the Grammys last night? Anyone?

So, we thought Amy Winehouse looked and sounded great (relatively speaking) during her Grammys performance last. But while she was busy bellowing and doing what looked like the Superbowl Shuffle, (DTs, perhaps?) our phone was blowing up with texts (our peeps know better than to actually call) ranging from “amazing” to “nightmare.” For someone who was um, blowing glass barely a month ago, we think she pulled it together quite well. And it’s been so long since her eyes registered much of anything besides a cracked-out haze, we thought she looked pretty lucid, if not nervous, which is understandable. And yes, there were a few moments were we feared she’d lift up her skirt and reveal some kind of no-no-bits Blake tribute tat or something, but, like we said, for someone who’s been focusing on the wrong version of rock, we thought she sounded amazing, her timing was fantastic and we appreciated what looked like an extra two or three pounds.
