Jason Derulo gets hot and heavy with a former friend in his "The Other Side" video.

People always say that it's better to start out as "friends first" when embarking on a brand-new relationship (and to clarify, we mean "friends first" not "friend-zoned first" -- that never works out), mainly because it cuts out that pesky "interview-dating" feeling. Who needs that awkwardness when you already know the person, right?? And even if all new relationships don't necessarily begin that way (because you could also argue that you already "have enough friends"), R&B crooner and dance master Jason Derulo is the living embodiment of what a successful "friends-first" relationship looks like in his new "The Other Side" video.

Kyle McNeill airs grievances against an ex in his new video for "Suzanne."

Meet Kyle McNeill: He's a Los Angeles-born singer-songwriter with a broken heart of gold and a unique country-blues/jazz/swamp-rock collection of sad-sack songs that could make Morrissey himself well up. And trust us, when you see the video for Kyle's latest single, "Suzanne," you're going to be all, "STEP BACK, I LOVED HIM FIRST" and "JUST WHO THE HELL IS THIS 'SUZANNE,' ANYWAY?" You're welcome, and we apologize in advance.

Check out Beyoncé and Andre 3000's "Back To Black" single.

Beyoncé and Andre 3000 covered Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" for "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack.

Beyoncé and Andre 3000 teaming up to cover Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black"? Sounds like the recipe for surefire internet acclaim, right? But the song, which premiered over the weekend on Mark Ronson's radio program, has been less than positively reviewed pretty much across the board. It can't be all that bad, can it? What's the big deal?

Mika and Ariana Grande plan to prank their high school bullies in his video for "Popular Song"

Mika and Ariana Grande prank their high school bullies in their "Popular Song" video.

OK, we get it -- high school sucks. (That's why we have things like the Mean Stinks campaign and Demi Lovato.) And as anyone who went to high school knows, the popular kids REALLY suck. Wouldn't it be nice to invite them over for dinner, then magically turn them into stone like the witches in "Hocus Pocus"? Well, while we don't condone practicing sorcery on ANYONE, no matter how much they suck, Mika and Ariana Grande do a nice job of acting out our ultimate high school fantasy in their Tim Burton/"Heathers"-y video for "Popular Song," from Mika's latest album, The Origin Of Love.

Ray J attempts to make out with a Kim Kardashian lookalike in his "I Hit It First" video.

Yeah, so apparently Ray J's new track "I Hit It First" isn't about Kim Kardashian. And to that we say: ON WHAT PLANET? Sure, when we first heard Ray's single, we could MAYBE believe that lyrics like, "She might move on to rappers and ballplayers, but we all know I hit it first," and "I hit it north, with her ass goin' south, but now baby chose to go west" were generic (not really). That said, now Ray's released the track's video, featuring a too-close-for-comfort Kim K lookalike, we are officially calling B.S.! "I Hit It First" IS TOTALLY about Ray and Kim's sex tape relationship. And on that note: DUDE. GET. OVER. IT!

Also, "American Idol" alum Jessica Sanchez releases her debut album, Me, You & The Music. Finally, the week caps off with Of Monsters And Men, who will grace the stage on "Saturday Night Live."

LL Cool J, Jessica Sanchez, Iggy & The Stooges + The Airborne Toxic Event release albums; Atlas Genius are on "MTV Artist To Watch" on Tuesday + Of Monsters And Men are on "SNL" in today's The Week In Pop.

NEW ALBUM RELEASES

+ LL Cool JAuthentic: It's been five years since LL Cool J last dropped a rap album (he's been busy filming "NCIS: Los Angeles"), but he told MTV News it was time to "come back to my roots." We first got a taste of Authentic during this year's Grammys with a performance of "Whaddap," where he and collaborators Chuck D, Travis Barker, Tom Morello, and Z-Trip closed out the night. Other album guests include Snoop Dogg ("We Came To Party," "Bartender Please"), Eddie Van Halen ("Not Leaving You Tonight" with Fitz And The Tantrums, "We're The Greatest"), and LL shows off his sensitive side for "Give Me Love" with Seal and "Closer" with Monica. His SMH-inducing "Accidental Racist" collaborator Brad Paisley guests on "Live For You."

Jessica SanchezMe, You & The Music: While "American Idol" Season 11's runner-up concentrated mostly on ballads during the competition, she showcases a range of styles for her debut album. "I'm opening up to the world and showing everybody and my fans who I really am. I'm not just some timid girl. I love to have fun, and I want to show everyone I can do that through my music," she told MTV News. To wit, there's the club-ready "You've Got The Love" and the Ne-Yo collab "Tonight," the R&B groove of "Drive By." The set includes both a Spanish and English-sung "No One Compares." For fans of her balladry, she slows things down on "Don't Come Around," "Crazy Glue," "In Your Hands," and "Plastic Roses."

+ Iggy & The StoogesReady To Die: If you've ever seen these punk legends live, you know they embody the tenets of rock 'n' roll: It's an intense, messy, adrenaline-fueled, sweat-soaked affair, and singer Iggy Pop also injects a good dose of humor into the mix. Ready To Die captures the spirit of Iggy's live set and marks the return of guitarist James Williamson as a Stooge on record since 1973's seminal Raw Power (he rejoined their live shows in '09 upon guitarist Ron Asheton's passing). "Burn" kicks things off with a snarling guitar, while "Job," "Gun," and the title track are also fist-pumpers. Iggy plants his tongue firmly in cheek for the sleazy "DD's," an ode to big bosoms. What's poignant here, though, are ballads "Unfriendly World" and homage to the late Asheton, "The Departed," both of which showcase a surprisingly vulnerable Iggy.

Check out more new album releases, upcoming TV appearances, and performances after the jump.

Listen to Iggy Azalea's "Bounce."

Iggy Azalea returns with a brand-new club-ready anthem, "Bounce."

Let's pretend you're getting ready for a night out: You've applied eyeliner, you've got the perfect floral romper laid out on the bed next to some sky-high strappies, and all you need to top off your pregame (if you're of pregaming age) is the perfect "going-out-to-the-club" anthem. Well, you can rest easy (or NOT rest, as the case may be), because Australian model-turned-rapper Iggy Azalea's blazing new single "Bounce" (from her upcoming debut The New Classic) is so confidently club-ready (like, think Missy Elliott-meets-Lil' Kim-meets-Ke$ha-meets-Nicki Minaj), you may never need to sift through potential "getting ready" tracks again. Because you've found it. This is "THE ONE."

Listen to a preview of The Wanted's "She Walks Like Rihanna."

Want to hook up with The Wanted? Just learn how to "Walk Like Rihanna." Done and done!

Call us behind the times, but we didn't know that "Walking Like Rihanna" was "a thing." But thanks to The Wanted's aptly titled jam "Walks Like Rihanna," it's fully becoming one! Sure, it might make more sense to sing about performing like Rihanna, posing naked like Rihanna, grabbing your crotch like Rihanna, or even cradling a baby like Rihanna, but walking? That's a new one! And now that the full track has been unleashed, it's almost as if the boys have written a comprehensive "how-to" laundry list of things they want in a potential girlfriend. To which we say: PRAISE! We need all the help we can get!

Capital Cities bust a move (or 10) in their "Safe and Sound" video.

Put on your dancing shoes: Capital Cities are taking us on a boogie through history. For the band's "Safe and Sound" video, the Los Angeles synth-pop duo heads to a classic theater -- famed cinema showcase the Los Angeles Theatre, in fact -- for a performance and a visually wild romp through the decades, as a magical lightning bolt brings black-and-white flappers and tap dancers from celluloid to life. The silent film-era dancers share the floor with disco divas and b-boys busting moves, stopping short of Capital Cities' own mega-modern pop style.
