Justin Timberlake will take the VMA stage this year!
Slick back your hair and ready your suit and tie, because it is official -- Justin Timberlake will perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards! And the crowd goes WILD!!!! (WE ARE ALL THE CROWD, FYI.) But that's not all! The legendary music icon in the making and world-renowned dapper guy will also be honored with the award show's iconic Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, arguably the night's most prestigious Moonman that's been given to the likes of Michael Jackson (its King of Pop namesake), Janet Jackson, and Madonna (Ciccone, not Jackson), and hasn't been awarded to anyone since Britney Spears in 2011.
OBVIOUSLY we are freaking out, but honestly? We're not that surprised! Like, the guy is currently TIED with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for the most VMA nominations this go-around (six each!) thanks to his show-stopping clips for "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay Z and "Mirrors." And between his phenomenal album, The 20/20 Experience, and upcoming "Take Back The Night"-led part 2 disc, this has truly been Justin's year! Like, honestly, if you really wanna blow the roof off of your 2013 awards show ceremony, who ya gonna call?
Let's celebrate the big news with a look back at Justin Timberlake's 13 Best VMA Moments after the jump.

There's a new VMA category in town: Best Song Of The Summer!
One of the coolest things about summer has to be sifting through a gazillion radio-friendly songs and asking ourselves the ultimate question: WHAT was THE Best Song Of The Summer? What got our booties twerking and/or popping? What made us throw our hands in the air (presumably like we just don't care)? Well, lucky for us, the 2013 MTV VMAs are gonna make this decision verryyyy easy... with a new "Best Song Of The Summer" award category! And here's who's nominated: Miley Cyrus' twerk-tastic "We Can't Stop," Selena Gomez's sultry "Come And Get It," Robin Thicke's NSFW "Blurred Lines" (hey, hey, hey), One Direction's cheeky "Best Song Ever," Daft Punk's funk-flecked "Get Lucky," and Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's are-they-or-aren't-they hit, "I Need Your Love." But here's the problem: WE CAN'T CHOOSE. DON'T MAKE US.
Can you help us decide who will take home the Best Song Of The Summer title? Oh, you will? THANKS!! Here's all you gotta do: Vote for your favorite summer song via Twitter, Instagram, or Vine by using one of the following hashtags: #votemiley, #votedaftpunk, #voteselena, #voteonedirection, #votethicke or #votecalvinandellie. Voting is open riiiight up to the VMAs, which air on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 9 p.m. ET.
We trust that you'll have nooo problem deciding which song to pick. Unlike us, who can barely decide what to
order cook for dinner tonight. I mean, look at us -- our hands are tied! We'd donate an organ to ALL of these people! HALP!
Cast your vote NOW for this year’s Video Music Award winners from the 2013 VMA Nominees. The 2013 Video Music Awards air Aug. 25 on MTV and VMA.MTV.com, live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center. No sleep till Brooklyn!

Huge 2013 MTV Video Music Awards news, everybody, and this time it's twofold. TWOFOLD. That's like... TWICE the folds!!!! Miley Cyrus will officially perform at the VMAs! Not only that, but the triple VMA nominee is now nominated AGAIN for Best Song Of The Summer!!!! This just-announced category, FYI, is totally socially driven by YOU, so if y'all Smilers want Milers to take home the Moonman, get out there and #votemiley! GAH, we don't know how many more of these VMA shockers we can take!! JK, we know exactly how many we can take -- a billion point five, KEEP 'EM COMIN'.

No sleep till Katy Perry takes Brooklyn at the 2013 VMAs!
Not only will Katy Perry shake up the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with the debut live performance of "Roar," but she's basically taking New York City itself by storm -- at least according to this VMA promo video released last night.
Taking a cue from Miley Cyrus, another public transit-invading VMA performer, Katy emerges from a sewer grate to lead an army of KatyCats (including an actual tiger) down the streets of downtown Manhattan to the tune of the Beastie Boys' "No Sleep Till Brooklyn." Katy then descends onto a Brooklyn-bound train, presumably to re-emerge at Barclays Center for the 2013 Video Music Awards, where once again our friends at Pepsi® will serve as an official presenting sponsor.

You're looking at One Direction: 2013 VMA nominees AND official presenters!
We're gonna say this as calmly and collectedly as we can: One Direction will present an award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards! IT FEELS SO GOOD TO SAY THAT! Oh and did you think they weren't nominated for a 2013 VMA? That's funny, because THEY ARE! One Direction is officially nominated for a brand-new VMA category called Best Song Of The Summer for "Best Song Ever."
So charge your phone and start doing wrist stretches or whatever because you've got some serious voting to do. This in-sane. This is huh-YOOJ. THIS IS HAPPENING.
If One Direction's live, flesh-and-blood appearance at the 2013 VMAs and their shot at the Best Song Of The Summer VMA weren't enough, we're here to remind you that their perfectly coiffed babeliness got us ultra amped for their upcoming VMA appearance. Mmmmmm perfectly coiffed 1D babeliness...
Sorry, where were we? Oh yeah, right, back to why we're really super jazzed that these guys are joining the Kaws-redesigned Moonman statue, show-opener Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke (heyoo!) and mainstage performer Kanye West at the 2013 Video Music Awards! We're so pumped because the British boy band is fun -- plain and simple. Like, for such good-looking guys -- seriously, these guys are like actually Precious Moments figurines brought to life by ancient magickes moste adorabylle -- all five of 'em have such good senses of humor! Remember all the shenanigans they got into last year? OBVIOUSLY. We're pretty sure it's, like, a felony not to commit every single 1D act to memory. Regardless! Let's celebrate this most jooooyous of news with a look back at how much more awesome the 2012 Video Music Awards were thanks to this special li'l fivesome. (Perfect, and while the readers are distracted doing that, I'll have that Zayn hairspray gif all to myself! My precioussss...)

We had a hard time narrowing the list down, but here are top seven reasons why Katy Perry's "Roar" rules!
Though we've had more than 15 hours to revel in Katy Perry's recently released "Roar," the lead single off of her upcoming album, Prism, we're nowhere NEAR through with it! Hmm, how to describe it... Imagine a fiercely competitive game of "Hungry Hungry Hippos," only instead of hippos you've got our emotional insides, and instead of white marbles you've got nothing but deeply felt FEELS. UGH, it's so wonderful, BUT SO INTENSE, and made only more intense by the fact that Katy will perform "Roar" live for the first time ever at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards." And once again our friends at Pepsi® are back as an official presenting sponsor of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Anyway, because writing is cathartic, we figure we've gotta work through our tumultuous emotional fugue state by listing our top seven reasons why "Roar" rules one-by-one. Ready? let's do this!
1.) "ROAR"'S EMOJI-NAL LYRIC VIDEO: Though the song has yet to get the proper music video treatment, you've got to watch Katy's "Roar" lyric video, which was released this morning and is illustrated entirely through Emoji. You know, those ah-mazing Japanese emoticons? Shout-out to Katy's cat, Kitty Purry, who makes a cameo toward the end!
2.) THE "IT'S A HARD-KNOCK LIFE"-ESQUE INSTRUMENTAL: Maybe it's coincidence, but it seems a little TOO well planned that "Roar"'s plinking piano work shares more than a passing resemblance to the "Annie" song famously sampled by Jay Z in "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)." We love that instead of making the whole track about what's held her down, Katy focuses instead on why she's too amazing to be held down period.

Kanye West will perform at the 2013 MTV VMAs! Here's a look back at Kanye's most unforgettable VMA moments.
The 2013 MTV VMAs are so close we can almost FEEL them, and we've already gotten a barrage of need-to-know facts about this year's show (the VMA Moonman got a Kaws/Brooklyn makeover, Lady Gaga will perform her upcoming new single, "Applause," for the first time, etc.), and now? HERE'S S'MORE. The acclaimed genius behind Yeezus (one of the summer's most groundbreaking musical ventures) and father to li'l baby North West (one of the summer's most groundbreaking baby names), Kanye West, will be making his SEVENTH (!) live musical appearance at the MTV VMAs to perform his new single, "Black Skinhead."
And to that we say, let's celebrate with some or our favorite all-time Kanye VMA moments! And yes, we know, who can forget that moment? But there are some truly legendary and totally iconic Yeezy moments that completely blow that one out of the water! Let's check 'em out.
1.) Kanye West arrives on the 2004 VMAs red carpet: Though Kanye was as fresh-faced as he was fresh-dressed at his first-ever VMAs, the newcomer had no problems rubbing elbows with the likes of John Legend, Outkast, and Usher -- not to mention the legendary Chaka Khan, who joined him onstage for his "All Falls Down" performance that evening.
2.) Kanye West and Jamie Foxx perform their smash hit "Gold Digger" in 2005: For anyone who's a little hazy on the mid-2000s, "Gold Digger" was basically the JAM for a solid six months. It was EVERYWHERE. But as fun as it was to hear "She take my moneeeey" literally every time you entered a Best Buy or CVS, nothing could compare to this epic live rendition with Jamie Foxx at the 2005 VMAs.
