Karmin got their start like any other hardworking music act of the new millennium -- on YouTube. Unless you actually live under some kind of soundproof, internet-proof rock, then you've seen Amy Heidemann (the female half of Karmin) flow like a beast on the duo's cover of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now." You know, the one that went around the internet like, 64 million times (!!!). Next thing you know, they're releasing a debut album full of original songs  -- Hello, out May 8 -- and they're currently our PUSH artist of the week, almost a year to the day we named them a Buzzworthy "Buzz On" act. Lesson of the century: Keep vlogging and tweeting, kids!

Quick history lesson: Amy met her Karmin cohort and real-life boo Nick Noonan at Berklee College of Music, where they collaborated on school projects. They turned their conservatory training to mainstream pursuits. Amy used her theatrical prowess to shape-shift into an uncannily accurate version of pop stars like Demi Lovato and Pink and hip-hop heavyweights like Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and even Kanye West, with Nick mixing and manning the synth. Their mesmerizing covers -- and Amy's machine-gun flow -- caught the attention of Ryan Seacrest, Ellen DeGeneres, more than a few major record labels. Ultimately, L.A. Reid signed them to Epic Records, landed them a musical guest spot on "Saturday Night Live" and basically ensured that you clear out some memory on your iPod for Karmin's permanent place in your music collection. Not bad for a girl from Nebraska who now has to postpone her wedding to play a music festival for millions of people.

And while we could watch Amy battle Busta Rhymes' tongue-twisters with an almost terrifying level of perfection, Karmin's more than just a cover band. They're bringing their own infectious brand of power-pop (and, yes, Amy's fast-lane flow) to their Hello debut, which features the shimmering smash, "Brokenhearted" (a song based on their real-life relationship) and the ferociously fearless "I Told You So," which sees its video premiere Tuesday, May 8, on MTV and MTV.com.

Karmin's already bigger than big. And the scary thing is, they're about to get even bigger. And we'll be here to say, well, "I Told You So."

+ Download a free copy of Karmin's "I Told You So," check out their live performance of "Hello" and their latest video "I Told You So" below, and watch more interviews and performances with the band after the jump.

Kanye West, pensively lost in the world... of the Knicks.

Kanye West looks like he's focusing on that game harder than we did on the SATs as he kicked it courtside with Ben Stiller at the Knicks game last night at Madison Square Garden. While Kanye's lady love Kim Kardashian couldn't make it, it seems Yeezy and Ben enjoyed themselves as New York battled the Miami Heat during the NBA Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Judging from the serious expression on Kanye's face, it's pretty clear Kanye was channeling some "ball-so-hard" vibes to the Knicks, who clearly didn't get the memo because they lost by 17 points.

Not even this Knicks dancer could faze 'Ye!

Sorry, Knicks dancer! Kanye West's over it.

Also, are Kanye and Ben Stiller harboring a bromance we weren't aware of? We assume there must have been lots of discussion as to just how cray this season's been and maybe even a celebratory drink courtesy of Ben for Kanye thanking him for the shout-out in "Jesus Walks": "My friends sound like Ben Stiller's on 'Meet The Parents.'"

Despite his intensity at a sporting event, Kanye totally deserves some downtime to enjoy the athletic prowess (or lack thereof--the Knicks sadly lost by 17 points last night) after his "Lost In The World" video quietly premiered this week. Take a load off, Kanye! Just chill in your gray sweatshirt with Gaylord Focker like it's NBD, and don't let that dancer distract you.

Young London's cover of Adele's stunning 'Someone Like You' is pretty great.

Our favorite electro-pop duo Young London has just stepped up their cover song game. We first told you about this Boston-based duo when they released their not-annoying-in-the-slightest cover of The Buggles' iconic "Video Killed The Radio Star." And while Matt Rhoades and Sarah Graziani (aka Young London), create their own original songs (check out "Celebrity" if you know what's good), they're returning to reworked covers with their rendition of Adele's stunning "Someone Like You."

Listen to Young London's take on Adele's "Someone Like You" after the jump.

We'd think Kanye West would have his hands full with G.O.O.D. Music's new album, hanging with Hov and taking Kim to "Hunger Games" screenings, but the rapper found time for a blast from the past for us today -- a new video for "Lost In The World." The already-classic My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track gets an artsy treatment from Yeezy. The black-and-white video's full of gorgeous models dancing on a mirrored building, flailing under cloud cover and haunted by their own eerie (yet still attractive) reflections. It's simple but beautiful imagery that turns dark and intense as Kanye turns on the bright lights in the form of jarring strobes as the video swerves into abstract urban scenes.

Things get less surreal as Kanye drops in to drop verses from under a crystal-studded baseball cap, which probably costs more than Yankees season tickets. The only thing missing from the video, directed by fashion filmmaker Ruth Hogben, is Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, whose vocals are poured on the track like maple syrup on whole-grain pancakes. Dude was probably busy having his heart broken and plotting his next surprise Grammy win, so we'll forgive his absence.

Not that Kanye's been on vacation or hiding out in a Deco spire in Gotham City. He just hit the studio with Justin Bieber (not enough OMGs in the world) and dropped two new songs, "Way Too Cold" and the posse cut "Mercy," last month. You know what they say: No rest for the Yeezy.

Soundgarden is back! Did you save your flannel?

Not going to lie: We're beyond geeked about Marvel's "The Avengers" bursting into theaters this weekend. Midnight tickets: check. Captain America pajamas: ...errr, maaaayybe. But Iron Man, Thor and the gang aren't the film's only superhero assembly: The soundtrack's scored the return of grunge legends Soundgarden. The band's comeback single, "Live to Rise," is their first song and video in 15 years -- the last time dudes were rocking this hard, Justin Bieber was still learning to count -- albeit adorably, we are positive.

We still can't BELIEVE that NKOTB, *NSYNC Backstreet Boys AND One Direction got voted out (not to mention, uh HELLO, THE BEATLES, but we're impressed by the fierce fortitude of Westlife and The Jonas Brothers fans. Will Jonas Brothers take it, or will Westlife live forever? The winner will be revealed soon enough!! Until then, watch Buzzworthy's Tamar Anitai and MTV News' Christina Garibaldi and Jocelyn Vena analyze the final two boy bands left in the battle!

Adam Yauch -- 1964-2012

Adam Yauch, best known as MCA of the Beastie Boys, lost his battle with cancer, dying at the age of 47. Right now gasps are echoing around the halls of MTV, followed by a stunned, solemn silence. Ironically, MTV was the first place I discovered the Beastie Boys, who were busy throwing pies and partying in their breakthrough "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" video. As a clueless little suburban girl on the West Side of Cleveland (well before the Internet, I'm reluctant to admit), I watched MCA, Mike D and Ad-Rock doing something I'd never heard before -- melding hip-hop (which barely had a name at the time) with pile-driving punk-inspired guitars and reveling in the kind of alpha male cartoonish antics that girls like me (who didn't care about football players or the kinda guys who cared about cheerleaders) would grow to either blatantly fall for or wind up being secretly attracted to -- in a place I'd never really known much about before, New York City.

The Beastie Boys' License To Ill album (one of the most cherished albums in my collection, one of the best albums of the '80s, and one of the best debut albums ever recorded, in my opinion) became a portal into a world I never knew existed. Here were three guys wilding out in track jackets and Adidas shelltoes and fake 'staches, paradoxically making an unholy, f***-it-all mess that somehow still ended up being good, clean fun, with a knowing wink and nod, vowing not to sleep until Brooklyn (before Brooklyn would become known for organic hummus and strollers and people like me), and drippin' swag more than 20 years before that'd become "a thing." They acted like someone gave the smart kids a cool pass. To me and the generation of '80s kids who grew up with the Beastie Boys, MCA, Mike D and Ad-Rock were the original mashup artists, combining urban music and city life, punk, pop and street style into a brand-new teenage dream with a message that was equal parts ironic, self-aware, wry, and, at its core, positive and conscious. Beastie Boys kept it street, but they didn't stick to rapping about guns and drugs. They rapped about being kids and being young, wild and free. The Beastie Boys were the original swag pioneers, and MCA's unmistakably raspy, intentionally bratty rhymes were like a battle cry to join that new movement that'd lead me to Brooklyn (after a few years at a rental on Rivington Street, steps away from the original Paul's Boutique storefront), and ultimately to a life buoyed by the velocity of New York, by music, and, ironically, to MTV.
