Adrianne Curry is a model, the winner of America's Next Top Model cycle 1, star and co-executive producer of  Vh1's The Surreal Life and My Fair Brady (which she co-executive-produced), and a Lord of the Rings devotee. She's also an opinionated Twitterer. But one thing she's apparently not is a fan of MTV's Jersey Shore. We know because she tweeted the following message this morning:

MTV's social media manager Tom Fishman took to the MTV Buzzworthy Blog with his own personal defense of Jersey Shore.

Just wanted to quickly address a couple things about your opinion of Jersey Shore. One is that, technically, MTV's target demographic is actually 12-34, which is older than the "12-20" demo you Tweeted, but still, I see your point -- the demographic is young, and young people definitely tune in.

I watched every episode of Jersey Shore, and I respectfully disagree with the idea that the show promotes violence and promiscuity. The show certainly depicts that kind of behavior, but that's not the same thing as promoting or encouraging it. In fact, I'd say the exact opposite is true.  Several cast members, including JWoww, Sammi, and maybe most notably, Ronnie -- who believed he'd never fall in love at the Jersey Shore -- were shown to prefer meaningful relationships over ''creeping'' for random hook-ups, and random hook-ups on the show often had serious consequences, ranging from violence in the house to, in JWoww's case, nearly ruining an existing meaningful relationship.

Finally, people who were violent on the show frequently faced legal consequences, like getting arrested and hauled off to central booking. Ronnie even spent a night in jail. The man who punched Snooki got arrested and ultimately lost his job as a result of his violent behavior.

Okay, look -- I get that the violence and sex on Jersey Shore can be entertaining, and of course the show benefits from that. But to say that it teaches underage kids how to be "violent sluts," in my opinion, just doesn't accurately represent the show's content.
