Despite her whispery, non-threatening vocals, Anya Marina is clearly a bad-ass, take-charge kinda girl. The kind of girl, it seems, who has zero prob dragging her man across the hardwood floor, propping him up for a quick romp in the sack, then stuffing him into a suitcase and shoving him under the bed with all the other discarded playthings.
Watch (a slightly feral) Anya live out every girl's fantasy in her new video, "Move You," off her album, Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II, and don't bother feeling TOO sorry for the guy. After all, that suitcase is still bigger than most downtown NYC apartments. (Except for Whitney Port's ...)

We already told you that Anya Marina spent some time working as a radio disc jockey before she "decided to quit [her] day job and (in her words) "become a full time rock n' roll person." But there's a lot about the softspoken Joey Lauren Adams lookalike (Chasing Amy? Anyone??) that you won't find on her resume.
Find out what her new album, Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II, has to do with Britt Daniel of Spoon, Louis XIV (the band, not the dead French monarch) and professional pick-up artist Neil Strauss, plus hear why this self-proclaimed "geek" is embracing her flaws instead of covering them up.
+ Bonus: Find out how Anya Marina went from spinning records to making them, plus check out these uber-dotty MTV photos!

Anya Marina doesn't have Christina Aguilera's powerful pipes, Beyonce's undeniable star quality or Jennifer Lopez's showmanship. So what makes the Ann Arbor, Michigan native a force to be reckoned with? That'd be her soft, whispery sweet sound, quietly penetrating lyrics, and one of those breathy, little-girl voices that gives her music (dainty, trippy soft-pop melodies) an aura of whimsy mixed with worldliness.
Alternately vulnerable, hopeful and all-knowing, the DJ-turned-singer songwriter's mastered the rare art of crafting hauntingly pretty songsĀ ("26," "Move You" ) that float into the inner recesses of your mind when you least expect it. And her bold-but-ephemeral quality also translates into her pictures.
Check out these gorgeous, Warhol-esque shots of the songstress, and then check out Anya's MySpace page to hear "Miss Halfway," the soft, subtexty song that earned her a spot on the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack, a gig opening for Jason Mraz, a record deal (her album, Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II, is out in November) and our official Buzzworthy seal of approval.
